It sucks
30 January 2014 | by See all my reviews

The film portrays the great Armenian hero Garegin Nzhdeh as a hateful and hysterical person, not the brilliant strategist and ideologist who held his own against invading Turkish and Soviet armies. The film opens with anti-Turkish hate speech but does not show the context. Direction and the script are primitive and weak. The budget - not justified, 7.000.000 USD for an Armenian movie - all the movie-goers in the country wouldn't be enough to cover that. Potential for screening abroad - minimal. The director's and lead actor's reaction to criticism - childish and full of insults.

It definitely isn't the worst Armenian movie ever - yet, the surprisingly high rating (most likely achieved with fake IMDb accounts made by the PR team) has forced my hand. 1 out of 10.
