This movie hurt me.
reallyevilboy21 September 2014
I am an avid alien abduction enthusiast. Movies that would be given really bad reviews I would enjoy merely for the sake of the alien abduction theme.

It's a rare theme, a genre I desperately seek movies on. A well done alien abduction movie will scare the pants of me and leave me awake night after night watching the open door.

This was not one of them. If I was even slightly entertained by this movie I would have lovingly given this a 5 or 6 star rating. But No.

The film had potential as well, the script started off okay but was executed in such a way that the only thing stopping me from turning it off was my desperate need to see another alien abduction movie. Then the script went bad, really bad.

This movie hurt me.

Can someone please make a descent alien abduction film?

What is the plot of this?
petarmatic12 November 2014
I have to agree with the people who reviewed this title when they said that they do not understand what was this film about.

Was it about alien abduction or was it about MILF trying to find herself in this huge world of ours? I really did not get it.

If you are looking for a good film about alien abductions, well this is not a film about it. I think it is more about MILF trying to find what is beyond.

Please do not watch this film. Waste of time.

I want to take this opportunity to ask US government and especially President Obama to use his last two years in office to disclose everything about aliens and what is the truth and what is not. Since he will have nothing better to do in his lame duck period, I think it will be a perfect opportunity to make himself even more famous if he disclose EVERYTHING known to the public. Public can take it.

What are all those actors doing here?

Warning: Spoilers
LOST TIME is another independent film exploring the subject matter of alien abduction, but this time it's been made in the worst possible hands. This is a typical greyed-out digital movie with nonsensical storytelling, a confusing narrative structure, and extreme boredom. The ONLY thing this has going for it are small roles for familair cast members including Lin Shaye, Derek Mears, Robert Davi and Luke Goss, but you have to wonder about the state of the film world when they're reduced to appearing in nonsense like this.

Aptly titled, and not for good either.
JohnLamberio20 September 2014
There are some films I can forgive for having a small budget. Excuses the iffy make up, lighting and other foibles. This however is not one of those.

Some laughable attempts at arty slow burning shots that are shot down to pieces with the cheesiest music that has ever passed my ears. Naff dialogue, and a lamentably shocking storyline amplify the bad factor exponentially. I can tell you, root canal treatment is marginally less uncomfortable than sitting through this rubbish.

I have asked myself several times WHY? Why did anyone bother to make this film? So heed this warning carefully, do not watch this film as it so bad it will leave you with ectoplasm for brains.

WTF was that?
quasides21 September 2014
To be honest i hate those abduction movies. But for some reason i gave that one a shot, well bad Mistake.

The Story: This Movie doesn't make any sense. Nothing make sense. Not the how, not the why. Not the characters, their behavior, the storyline. Its like a 12 Year old wanted to make an Abduction story and this is the result and no he is not talented. - And yes i could do better - i think most of the viewers could do better.

And just when i thought it cant get weirder, cant get worse, cant be more nonsense - well this film surprises and it gets worse, it gets weirder the end - well don't know how to put this - the worst possible turn around to make it a happy end.

The Acting: Well mostly rubbish and overdoing. Specially the main actress is annoying. Flat stereotype characters, you simply don't care what happens to them. They are overacting, they are constantly hysterical and annoying.

The technique: Well the movie has a dirty look, all actors look pale, Grey, not really dark but also not "bright". The effects are unnecessary but also way below you tube standard. But the real joke are the props, seriously, it just look like crap. And the Music, well no words,.. look at other reviews lol

Bottom Line: Its pure crap. For a thriller you must have at least a little sympathy for the characters, but you don't, you just hope the movie ends as fast as possible and if that means everyone shall die as fast as possible way then so be it.

To be honest i cant even express my real feeling about this Movie without hitting the language filter ob IMDb

Unbelievable junk... just burn this trash!
jpgonc24 February 2015
Yes, I am saying politely in the summary. This movie is so atrocious that I advise everyone to use all of its package as combustion to set some good fire on freezing nights.

Astounding feat: The first half-hour of the movie presents the main actress trying to find her sister. A complete banal and monotonous way to open a film with the first 35 minutes (!!) filled with walking around thru nothings and the nerve-racking ineptitude of the actress to have sex with her man.

Plot review: It is an amazing silliness with grotesque and pointless annoying shots after that blank 35 minutes. The movie tries to offer a miscellany of alien conspiracy theories and weirdo scientific experiments but only delivers confusion, commonplaces, poorly conceived interactions and a horrific bad experience to the viewer.

Big question: How this script found funding is an enigma to me.

Conclusion: Avoid this one for the sake of your time.

Painful to watch - Looks like a short was blown up to 4-6 times it length
meggaiwa21 September 2014
This was one of the worst 2-3 movies I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. And sadly, this is no overstatement.

Short version: It REALLY looks like they took a bad 10-15 minute short, and blew it up to the length it has now. And this is not a cute way to describe the quality, but probably what *really* happened here.

Long version: After seeing it, I was asking myself two questions: What were they even going for, what was this supposed to be? And why did nobody stop them and why didn't they at least try to improve it?

And to me, it seems obvious, that at some point they did become aware of the fact, that they can't rescue it, and went into "lets get it over with" mode, and they did the worst thing possible: They made countless "playing for time" shots to get the length: Without plot, dialog, action, effects or *anything* happening.

Additionally they tried to take the mystery ("what did really happen?") route, but at the same time, everybody - the audience and all characters - know what happened from the beginning. While the characters try to find out "what happened", they literally say what happened.

Lost Time could have been a more or less good 10 minute short. What were they thinking? There were established actors and crew involved, why didn't they stop this madness? I can't stress this enough: Most parts really look like they were made on one weekend literally without any screenplay with the objective "we need another 45 mins, and we need it as cheap and fast as possible".

I have lost time by watching this movie
infomobilesecretary29 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Spoiler alert!!! It started okay, 2 sisters, 1 ill, the other taking care. Hart warming. But then something went wrong and the movie went down from a wanna-be A-movie to definitely a B-movie. The scenes which were meant to be exciting were dramatically bad written. And if it wasn't the writer, then it was the student-cameraman who shot the scenes! And what's with the angel? Is it an alien abduction? Or is it the bad guy from hell who want's to get to know how to make a human? The parallels at the end were surprising, I like that in movies, gives hope or something. OMG, and know I'm loosing more time by writing this review. Sad, a very sad movie :(

OMG, just so silly
SexyActorsJunkie11 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This isn't the worst film I've ever sat through, but I'd still like to get back that time I lost. Silly dialogue that made me laugh out loud a few times. Really poor soundtrack: all dialogue volume was too quiet, but the bloodcurdling screams MUCH too loud. Vague story details explained in mumbo jumbo. The only good things about this film were Derek Mears and Maria Olsen in their supportive, creepy roles. Don't waste your time.

My Review Of "Lost Time"
ASouthernHorrorFan30 September 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a story that evolves as more of the plot is revealed. As a woman deals with fighting cancer her sister disappears during what is perceived as an alien abduction. Sesma obviously has explored the broader concept of aliens and their "possible" true origins. Blending the spiritual with an emotional trauma, and the awareness of a more sinister construct of our universe, "Lost Time" delves deep into the psychological nightmare and fear that surrounds the mysterious phenomenon of lost time/abduction experience. There is times when some noir permeates the film and reminds me of "Dark City" (not so much in style but in attitude).

For me personally, I found the film pulsating with real human emotion, human tragedy, and fear of lost control over one's destiny. Not only on a science fiction level but a level that is very much grounded in mortality, and confusion. The characters, although at first glance seem two dimensional, are standard paradigms emoting despair and desire for self-preservation. "Lost Time" is a complex story that at times feels a bit too tragic and macabre, but also generates such intense, surreal elements of horror. And don't get me started on the fact that the story touches on the concepts of inter- dimensional, multiverse concepts. Comparisons between man's mythology of creation and that of extraterrestrial interference.

The special effects and cinematography in "Lost Time" is stellar, with some truly chilling moments. It is a blend of CGI and practical, both done top perfectly and present the necessary spectacle you need to create the moment. I didn't find any of them to be cheap or cheesy. The sound effects and instrumental music is pretty "cookie cutter", it is all sounds we have heard many times over, but they do play well with the scenes, and really drive in the sense of dread that "Lost Time" goes for atmospherically.

Overall I enjoyed "Lost Time". The story does get a bit heady at times, and may seem confusing as to the true nature of this chilling tale so be aware. Some moments do loose momentum as far as thrills and intensity, but those moments don't last long. Most of the story stays dark and edgy. This is a more mature, stripped down sci-fi that uses a more toned down amount of CGI and effects to create those elements of fear, or science fiction. I enjoyed the fact that "Lost Time" starts as one kind of alien-esque story but then evolves into something different and far more sinister. The ending is a bit confusing and seems to reach for that final conclusion, but it is creative.

Another Successful Sesma and Goss collabo!
cnd-8889525 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this movie. It is an edge of your seat sci-fi thriller. Goss commands the screen as he does in all his movies. He completely draws you in with his presence. The plot is very intriguing, so I'm not sure what the other reviewers who mentioned that there is no plot are referring to. Lost Time will have you yelling at your screen and jumping out of your skin several times. I highly recommend it. I rented it on Amazon Prime, but I am going to purchase it for my DVD collection.

I look forward to watching AWOL-72, and The Night Crew, both directed by Sesma, and starring Goss.

Loved it but wish I knew what happened...
RedQueenIMDB10 June 2023
Starts out slow & a bit annoying with the lead actress over dramatizing while I looked for a story. I never found it. Beyond that, it was a high quality production.

The proposed plots presented along the way were all great snippets that didn't go together. So I really wish they had gotten a story worked out before making the film.

But some of the snippets were awesome, leaving me so disappointed that the movie didn't make sense in the end. Obviously, other reviewers were enraged by this as well. And every movie maker should know the number 1 way to ruin a film is by having a make-your-own ending for the viewer to come up with 'cause there really wasn't one.

Still, I found it to be great horror honestly.

A woman is desperate to discover the truth of what she suspects is an alien abduction of her sister
robertemerald14 August 2017
This movie did not deserve the bad reviews. Its problem is that it goes for extreme dramatic intensity too much via the actors and script, rather than in other ways. From a science fiction point of view, however, it is still a decent movie. The idea is solid and the supporting CGI is good as well. From a horror pony of view the problem is that rather than have the horror/drama creep up you it's already there from the beginning with no time to sympathize.

This movie needed more time in pre-production and a more thought to the vision. My bet is that in a few years time this is one they will remake, and it will be a blockbuster.
