Storyline

Each of the friends somewhat admit that they have who they consider a "pit guy": someone who, if they had the power, would throw into a pit in their basement to banish forever, much like in The Silence of the Lambs (1991). For Ted, that person is his ex-architecture professor, Professor Vinick, who told Ted at the time that he had no talent and would never become an architect. Now that the GNB headquarters is about to open, Ted decides to invite Professor Vinick to the opening ceremonies to show him wrong. Professor Vinick's response makes Ted hold onto that grudge even harder. For Robin, that person is her co-worker, Patrice, who is now dating Barney. Robin will not however admit that Patrice is her pit guy because she still loves Barney herself. Robin has a chance to throw Patrice into her make believe pit when Robin has to fire a co-worker of her choice. For Lily and Marshall, that person is Daryl LaCorte, a colleague from Wesleyan who saw himself as their best friend after one ... Written by Huggo

Goofs

The rules of "Jinx" are that only a person present can unjinx by saying the name. Why didn't Ted unjinx Marshall an Lily at the end? He was there and Barney had already released his jinx. See more »

Quotes

Ted Mosby: [Barney has shown Ted a diamond ring] Oh my God, Barney...
Barney Stinson: You unjinxed me, I'm free! If the bison in the nickel heard what you said talking about them they would diminish their population even further on purpose and if Lily wants a big wiener in her mouth she's got my number and I'm sorry you took all the rap for the farting in the car up here, that was me.
[sighs]
Ted Mosby: The ring, what's the ring?
Barney Stinson: Right, the ring. I'm gonna ask Patrice to marry me
Ted MosbyBarney Stinson: Are you serious?
Barney Stinson: Jinx. Good, I need to say some things...

Hopefully The Season Is Picking Ip
14 February 2015 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This episode is one of the sillier episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" but unlike a lot of this season, it is a lot of fun. And it's all down to one man. Neil Patrick Harris take a bow sir.

Plot In A Paragraph: Ted wants to rub his new building in the face of an old professor, Barney is the victim of a very lengthy jinx, meanwhile, Marshall and Lily run into an annoying old acquaintance, and Robin gets an opportunity to fire Patrice.

Neil Patrick Harris is a lot of fun (when isn't the man brilliant??) as the silent Barney, and the episode ends with a surprise revelation about Barney's future plans....

Guest stars Seth Green (Alyson Hannigan's co-star in Buffy) and Perer Gallagher are both fun here too, hopefully this sees a turn Round in the fortunes of the season.
