The Start Of World War II
13 August 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

World War Two is the first episode of The Untold Story Of The United States.

In it,Oliver Stone and his collaborators closely examine the late President Franklin D.Roosevelt and how the country got involved during the Second World War and the American global role at a time when Germany was busy conquering different countries in Europe.Added to that,we also get to examine the relationship between Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin. Also,we get to re-examine Henry Wallace, the former Vice-President during the Roosevelt administration and his possible effect had he once again won in 1944.We also investigate the building of the American Empire.Aside these events of US history,it also tackles the start of the second World War and the atrocities done by Germany while conquering different countries that sparked the start of World War II.Finally,it also provides the activities done by the United States when it wasn't involved yet in the war.

The first episode was definitely informative and worth watching. In it,the viewer will realize that the former Vice-President Henry Wallace was definitely an unsung hero and how he could have averted racial tensions and the contributions he has made during difficult economic times particularly during The Great Depression in the 1930's.Added to that,we also get to appreciate the leadership of Roosevelt especially as he tries to avoid the United States from getting involved in the Second World War despite Churchill's pleadings. As for the conspiracies involved,Stone tries to somehow imply that there happens to be a strain and tension between the relationship of President Roosevelt and Vice President Henry Wallace that gave rise to Senator Harry Truman into becoming a future President of the United States.

Overall,it was a great first start for this 10-part documentary.
