Euro distributor Ascot Elite has finalised deals for German-speaking Europe on a trio of Cannes market titles, including upcoming Jk Simmons (Whiplash) and Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) comedy The Runaround from The Solution.
Due to shoot this summer in Los Angeles, Gavin Wiesen will direct The Runaround from a screenplay by Seth W Owen about a globe-trotting workaholic father who enlists the help of his daughter’s awkward ex to find his girl during a layover in Los Angeles.
From Gaumont, the outfit pre-bought new French drama-comedy Le Coeur en Braille from Cesar-winning actor-director Michel Boujenah.

Exclusive: Paris-based Other Angle has secured a brace of key sales for Us comedy Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant.
The Airplane-style comedy has landed with pan-Middle East distributor Front Row and South Africa’s M-Net ahead of its market premiere in Cannes with director Sam Friedlander and star Mark Feuerstein in attendance.
Fouad Mikati directed Return To Sender from a script by Patricia Beauchamp and Joe Gossett. Rlj Entertainment chief acquisitions officer Mark Ward negotiated the deal with Voltage and plans a 2015 release.
Strand Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Ron Judkins’ festival favourite and comedic drama Finding Neighbors starring Michael O’Keefe and Catherine Dent. Jon Gerrans negotiated rights with producers Judy Korin and Jennifer Young.

The Mark Feuerstein comedy “Larry Gaye: Renegade Male Flight Attendant” has been acquired for North American distribution by Orion Releasing and Latin American distribution through MGM. Directed by Sam Friedlander and written by Mike Sikowitz, the comedy follows Larry Gaye, lothario of the skies and self-described renegade, who is called on to save the day when the airline he works for tries to replace human flight attendants with robots.
