It's a woman's game
14 December 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

'The Bird Has Flown' has noting to do with the overall Drew Thompson storyline, but it's still the season's best so far. Almost everyone involved is being played by someone else; Ralyan, most of all. His pursuit of Lindsey and her pugilist boyfriend means a rather likable partnership with Rachel (good chemistry there)_ but also means he's been just another mark this whole time. His terrible judgment in women is both sad and kinda funny.

What's deeply sad is the fate of Ellen May, a liability with a capital L. It elevates Ava to major player in this episode (and from here on out really) as she's forced into survival mode. Without spoiling, the end doesn't go the way you'd think it would, and the handling of that particular hitch speaks to the writing and how this all plays out in long form.

A fantastic episode from start to finish.
