17 April 2014 9:00 PM, PDT | Uinterview | See recent Uinterview news »

Ben Savage will be taking a turn behind the camera to make his directorial debut with an episode of Girl Meets World.

Savage rose to stardom as a child actor in the popular sitcom Boy Meets World (1993-2000), which will be revived this summer when the spinoff, Girl Meets World premieres on the Disney Channel. Savage reprises his role as Cory Matthews alongside his TV wife Danielle Fishel, aka Topanga Matthews, but this time around the show will focus on his tween daughter, Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter).

Savage will be directing an episode in which Riley and Maya give a weird girl a makeover to make her more attractive – in their eyes – to their friend Farkle (Corey Fogelmanis). In the end, they realize that true beauty isn’t what’s on the outside. The plot is somewhat reminiscent of early episodes of Boy Meets World, »

Guy Branum talks gay bar names, Michael Fassbender’s Sir Ian impression, Parker Young joins Geoff Stultz for new pilot

Enlisted is almost certainly dead, and since I need a way to keep Parker Young on my television, I’m thrilled he’s joining the unfortunately titled Cuz-Bros with his Enlisted costar Geoff Stults. Stultz will play an uptight, put-together man whose life is turned upside down when his screwup cousin moves in. Young is that cousin, described as “sweet, clueless and naive with an uncanny ability to say/do the wrong thing at the wrong time, even though he means really well,” which is exactly the character Young plays to well.

'Girl Meets World' Trailer Shows Cory & Topanga As Parents

10 April 2014 9:00 PM, PDT | Uinterview | See recent Uinterview news »

Girl Meets World, the Disney spinoff of 90s hit Boy Meets World, released its first trailer this week, which shows a grown up Cory and Topanga.

Girl Meets World Trailer

In Girl Meets World, the childhood sweethearts-turned-married couple of Cory and (Ben Savage) Topanga (Danielle Fishel) are now parents to a tween daughter named Riley (Rowan Blanchard). While Blanchard is the star of the show, much focus is being placed on Savage and Fishel’s return to their old roles and fictional relationship.

In the trailer, as Riley tries to sneak out with her Shawn Hunter-like best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), Cory is there to put a good-humored stop to it.

"Here's what I'm thinking," he tells his daughter after catching her trying to crawl out her window. "If it was your world, Maya would have you on the subway already thinking you put something over on me."

If you happen to be of a certain age, then chances are you grew up watching Boy Meets World on ABC. First Teaser for Girl Meets World

10 April 2014 3:30 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

If you were born in the ‘80s, you probably feel like you grew up with Cory Matthews on Boy Meets World. And like all of us, Cory grew up. He and Topanga are still together, obvs, and they have a tween daughter. Wait, what? They’re old enough to have a tween daughter? Excuse me, I have to go look in the mirror and check for crow’s feet.

Anyway, ’80s kids are pleased as punch that our childhood favorites are going to be back on the screen each week on Girl Meets World, a new Disney channel show that will chart the trials and travails of Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley, as she grows up, and now there’s a teaser to whet our appetite even more. It looks like a pretty standard heartwarming coming of age comedy, but the nostalgia factor will be working in its favor. »
