We all know the refrain by now: remakes and reboots are a prime example of a creatively bankrupt Hollywood. The trend has gotten so ridiculous that now we have reboots and remakes within years of each other, studios throwing cinematic spaghetti at its old properties to see what sticks. Some do it right. After the success of The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, Phil Lord and Chris Miller will have to fight tooth and nail to avoid sinking under a pile of desired reboots and reimaginings. Others projects, meanwhile, seem to hold little sense at all – like turning a dangerous tale of high school obsession (Endless Love) into a positive romance. But what’s really frustrating is that our modern reboot culture rarely picks the properties that are still relevant today – the setups that can tap into a modern message while exploring the evolution of old ideas. Some projects are trying – we now have a Girl Meets World sequel »

Mr. Feeny, he of Boy Meets World and subsequent Facebook meme “Feeny’s Birthday!!!” fame, made an appearance during the last few seconds of Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World. He was there, and then he instantly disappeared into the subway mist. It was almost like ... he'd become a ghost. In fact, we're gonna take a bold stance and say that Mr. Feeny, played to acclaim by William Daniels, really is a ghost. Here is our evidence. Last known sightings (on Boy Meets World):When Boy Meets World wrapped its final episode 14 years ago, Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) remarked that Mr. Feeny would always be with the characters, no matter where they went. Some fans think Feeny’s final words on Boy Meets World were definitive proof that he’d only serve as a spiritual mentor for Cory going forward: “I love you all … class dismissed,” he said to an empty classroom. »

A weekly feature in which we spotlight shining stars
The Performer | Rory Kinnear
The Show | Penny Dreadful
The Episode | “Grand Guignol”
The Airdate | June 29, 2014
The Performance | Although Penny Dreadful has dazzled us with everything from vampire attacks to demonic possessions, the series’ most resonant moments may also have been its most human. Hear Read us out. In the first season finale, Frankenstein’s monster – Caliban to his friend, singular – was shown compassion once too often by his crush, Grand Guignol starlet Maud, setting in motion a series of events that allowed Kinnear to shine a spotlight not only on the »

1 | Girl Meets World‘s Sabrina Carpenter is totally Hayden Panettiere’s younger, equally sassy doppelganger (with a dash of Britt Robertson), yes? And did Cory’s vision of Mr. Feeny seem a little too angelic? Here’s hoping he’s still with us!

Girl Meets World–which premiered on Disney Channel this past week–could really be dubbed a permanent ’90s Throwback Thursday (that’s technically airing on Fridays). In honor of this week’s Throwback Thursday, let’s hash out a very specific, very ’90s question: What is the all-time best episode of Boy Meets World?
As is the case with long-running shows (Boy Meets World aired from 1993 to 2000), there are a ton of options, and it’s a bit of a tough call. Do you go with one early in the series’ run that gave us an iconic moment (like, say, »

There are a record number of scripted programs on television this summer, but young adults by and large are choosing their reality-show favorites instead.
In a week that saw the return of “Big Brother” (pictured), nine of the week’s top 10 original series telecasts in adults 18-49 were reality shows, with only HBO’s “True Blood” sneaking in. Cracking the top 20, though, were Fox’s “24: Live Another Day,” Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” and VH1′s “Hit the Floor.”
The same-night ratings bar has been lowered again this summer for scripted programming, as viewers have ever-more options and platforms to watch programs. The top scripted newcomer remains NBC’s “The Night Shift,” which on Monday was renewed for a second season, while TNT’s “The Last Ship” is the best-looking cable rookie, declining only slightly in its second week.
Overall last week, it was a very tight race »

Stuart Minkus was perhaps the most memorable character from the first season of "Boy Meets World." Cory was neurotic but normal; Topanga was a space cadet; Mr. Feeny wasn't a glorious sage yet. Minkus, meanwhile, dominated his scenes with smart-aleck comic asides and an unforgettable speaking voice. We've missed him. Now, 20 years later, he's back in the spinoff series "Girl Meets World" as a relative of the new show's Minkus proxy Farkle. Of course! Check out the above clip to see how Minkus (Lee Norris) has aged since his days as a sixth grade snob. »

You don't need to be a 13-year-old girl to like Girl Meets World, the new Boy Meets World spinoff. Sure, the Disney Channel show may be targeted toward a younger crowd, and Ben Savage told us it's for "a new generation." But if you loved Cory and Shawn way back when, then you won't be able to help but love this series, too, because it's just like the '90s sitcom. No, seriously. In the Girl Meets World pilot, we're introduced to a goofy protagonist, a tough Bff, a quirky brother, and plenty of other Boy Meets World similarities, including a familiar name or three. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the show with all the set pictures, and then keep reading to see how Girl Meets World is exactly like Boy Meets World - in a good way! »
