The Involvement Of The United States In World War II
14 August 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Roosevelt, Truman and Wallace is the second episode of the documentary series. In it,Oliver Stone narrates and explores events before and the moment it got involved in World War II,President Franklin D. Roosevelt's third and fourth run for the Presidency, his relationship with both British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet leader Joseph Stalin and the rise of Senator Harry Truman when he replaced Vice-President Henry Wallace during the fourth term of FDR and the beginnings of the Cold War. Aside from that,it also explored the United States in terms of military empire building and the shift in terms of leadership in the U.S. Government.

This was a worthwhile episode as we get to closely examine interesting events particularly the fall of Vice-President Henry Wallace and the rise of Senator Harry Truman, who was known to be the least qualified candidate for Vice-President and who later become the President of the United States who was responsible for the development of the atomic bomb and its dropping to two cities - Nagasaki and Hiroshima - in Japan.Aside from that,we get to witness too the legacy of Roosevelt both in the country and during World War II.Apart from interesting historical events of the United States,it also subtlety reviews the rise of the Soviet Union and how Japan dominated the countries in Asia-Pacific. And most of all,it also take s closer look at the development of the relationship between the United States and the Soviet Union especially when Churchill,Stalin and Roosevelt met together and discussed to bring Hitler down and worked together for the unconditional surrender of Germany.

As always,Stone takes a look at under-reported events during the events tackled in the episode and discusses a thing or two about conspiracies that the important people are involved in particularly the relationship between Stalin and Roosevelt.

The second episode provides us lots details about the involvement of the United States in World War II after Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese and how it managed to build a military empire.
