Bam! Pow! Zowie!

How and why the capable and respected National Geographic allowed this insult of a film to be created will I suppose, remain a mystery; no ex-Natl. Geo. executive will write a tell-all on how it came to be. Some executive producer must have decided and ordered the filmmakers to emulate Pop Art sensibility. (Think Roy Lichtenstein.) But what was being parodied by a fine artist should not have been grafted onto the reality and mind-boggling horror that was WWII. Actual period footage was turned into snippets of film and sound and when any given, brief sequence was edited, it was then 'popped' into the image of an animated globe of the world, with the next hot spot destination chosen. I also was reminded, as I watched as much of the movie that I could bear, of tabloid news, which was created for an audience with short attention spans. "Inside World War II" trivializes the maximum human horror inflicted on millions and millions of people. I find this production reductionist and grotesque.
