Sam Raimi To Direct 'World War 3'

26 February 2016 2:59 PM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

While Sam Raimi has been keeping his skills sharp lately on television, helming episodes of "Rake" and "Ash vs Evil Dead," it doesn't mean the director is shying away from the big screen. Three years on from "Oz The Great And Powerful," Raimi is putting together a slate of projects that are certainly eyebrow raising. Last month, we learned he'll tackle a remake of Jacques Audiard's "A Prophet," and now he's got another ambitious effort in the works. Read More: Sam Raimi To Direct Remake Of Jacques Audiard's 'A Prophet' Over at Warner Bros., Raimi is now attached to helm "World War 3," and you can probably guess what it's about. The movie will be based on the non-fiction book "The Next 100 Years," by George Friedman, who is professionally paid to think about what lays ahead, and it's pretty bleak/more of the same. Watch Sam Raimi's Scary New Chevrolet Horror Short

19 February 2016 1:14 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It's been nearly three years since filmmaker Sam Raimi directed a movie, 2013's Oz: The Great and Powerful, and nearly seven years since his last horror movie, 2009's Drag Me to Hell. While the director has been keeping busy on the small screen with Starz's Ash Vs. Evil Dead, which returns for its second season later this year, he also directed a new 60-second horror short film that serves as an ad for Chevrolet's 2016 Malibu and Cruze vehicles. Here's what the director had to say in a statement to AdWeek.

"We approached the development of the Chevrolet trailer in the same way we would an actual movie-by thinking through the plot, characters and eventual outcome. I've been in plenty of theaters where the audience is so concerned for the safety of the main characters that they call out warnings to save them. That's what this is based on."

Fox’s ’24: Legacy’ Casts Miranda Otto in Lead Role

27 January 2016 3:00 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Fox’s “24: Legacy” pilot has cast Miranda Otto in a lead role, Variety has learned. She’ll join “Straight Outta Compton” breakout Corey Hawkins, who has been tapped to star in the action drama, which will not feature former “24” star Kiefer Sutherland.

Otto will play Rebecca Ingram, the blazing smart former head of CTU. Now married to Senator John Donovan (who has not yet been cast), Rebecca is struggling with second thoughts about having left the counterterrorism agency.

“24: Legacy” revolves around military hero Eric Carter’s (Hawkins) return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back — compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Otto is repped by Gersh and Suzan Bymel of Management 360. She was most recently seen in season five of Showtime’s “Homeland, »
