I spent a lot of Journeys being underwhelmed by the lack of character development, the retreading of previously done plot points, and general lack of forward momentum in the ongoing storylines.
Here, when it all came together, and the main characters went there separate ways, I felt surprisingly sad. I don't think the conclusion to this season of Journeys is anything spectacular, or even anything that the anime hadn't done better in previous series, but I do think the sense of finality made the characters saying goodbye feel genuinely emotional for me.
I like Goh reaffirming his desire to see Mew again, and Ash is the exact same likeable character he's always been. I wish Chloe got more of a character arc resolution, but hey, you can't have everything.
