The sidebar story in its entirety would have been more interesting. When his trouble prone nephew comes to Hawaii to stay with him, Danno minces no words in telling the troubled youth that he himself got into trouble at his age, but was set straight by a stern father.

As for who killed the professor, the story fell into the pattern that the least likely of all suspects was the killer. The victim, as it turned out, wasn't a bad person. He was aiding a friend, a botanist, to find the cure for a rare disease that was plaguing the botanist's son.

Glad to see that the nephew seemed to be straightening out by episode's end, of course, he made sure to ask whether or not working in a crime lab required a college education. The guy still seems lazy; although, he is dedicated to having a good time.
