Plot Summary

"Mauritius is a beautiful Island, it is regularly visited by tourists, particularly from France and the UK, it is portrayed internationally as a Paradise. Sadly, there is a dark side to the Island" explains Michelle Thew from the BUAV, the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection. Mauritius is actually a leading exporter of primates for the research industry. Exporting 10,000 monkeys a year for an amount of 30 MEUR, it is second to China. But it is a cagey, secretive industry in a Hindu-dominated country where monkeys have a special status. 52% of the population is Hindu, and worship the monkey-god Hanuman. Written by Emmanuel Dinh
