Freedom Deal: The Story of Lucky is a short film based on a key section of the completed feature screenplay; a feature version is planned and in development.
Freedom Deal director Jack Ro is the Asian aka of US filmmaker Jason Rosette.
Six frogs were required for the 'raw frog scene'. Two were fully cooked (steamed), for actual eating by the actors; two were partly cooked (steamed), just enough to still look raw while allowing the actors to mimic eating; and two live frog actors who were released after shooting.
'Freedom Deal: the Story of Lucky' is the first ever onscreen dramatic depiction to be set during the controversial 1970 'Cambodia Incursion', when US and ARVN (Army of South Vietnam) forces entered Cambodia from Vietnam in order to destroy NVA and Viet Cong sanctuaries. The story is, however, told primarily from an Asian point of view.
