Earlier this year, Universal canceled The Legend of Conan, which would have had Arnold Schwarzenegger reprising his iconic role from the original 1982 classic. Also known in some circles as King Conan, the movie was believed to be dead. Not true, says Schwarzenegger. As far as he's concerned, the movie is still happening.
Schwarzenegger was at Cannes this weekend to promote a new underwater documentary. But the talk quickly turned to his impending slate, which includes a recently announced Terminator reboot that James Cameron will be producing and the Twins sequel Triplets. King Conan was almost completely waxed over. But Arnie stopped short for an update, confirming that things are moving forward.
"It's being rewritten...the idea is to do it."
What we don't have confirmed from the action icon is whether or not the sequel is still at Universal. Arnold has been teasing this movie since 2012, which is actually not that long in Hollywood years. »
1988 was a unique year in film history. For every Die Hard and Who Framed Roger Rabbit that debuted, we had odd films like Earth Girls Are Easy, Cocktail, and the comedy Twins, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito who play brothers who were separated at birth. For some reason the movie made over $200 Million Dollars that year (adjusted for inflation.) Keep in mind that Die Hard made only $174 Million Dollars that year (adjusted for inflation.) and you get a sense that all was not right with the world in the latter half of the 1980's.
Yahoo Movies is reporting that there is movement in the long in production sequel to that film which would be called Triplets. Eddie Murphy would star along with Arnold and DeVito playing their other long lost brother. According to Arnold...

We all waited with anticipation for the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Legend Of Conan, the R-rated reprisal of one of his famous movie characters, but it looks like that project is officially dead.
“Not so much. That’s kind of a longer story. At the end of the day, the studio decided that they weren’t gonna make that. I gotta say, it’s honestly a heartbreak. I love that first movie so much, so much, it’s one of my favorite movies,” he said.
“Ultimately, the budget was big, the studio was not really sure of the title, »

Arnold Schwarzenegger now looks highly unlikely to reprise the role of Conan one last time...
This is unfortunate. For the last few years, it looked like we might finally get Conan 3, known as The Legend of Conan or Conan the Conqueror, with Arnold Schwarzenegger returning for one last time with the sword, detailing his fate as King that was glimpsed at the end of Conan The Barbarian. As recently as last year, Arnold himself made it sound like this movie was all but a sure thing.
But now Chris Morgan, who was set to produce the film, is making it sound far less likely. "At the end of the day, the studio decided that they weren’t gonna make that," he told Entertainment Weekly. "I gotta say, it’s honestly a heartbreak. I love that first movie so much, so much, it’s one of my favorite movies. »
Sorry, folks. The long-discussed reboot The Legend of Conan isn't going to happen. The movie was supposed to be a direct sequel to 1982's Conan the Barbarian, which would have seen Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise one of his most iconic roles for a third time. But Universal Pictures has decided to kill the franchise before it could even get started.
Schwarzenegger has been teasing Legend of Conan for years, and fans were quite excited about seeing his return. Arnold first took on the role in the John Milius directed 1982 adaptation of Robert E. Howard's most famous creation. And in 1984, he returns in the less-violent, somewhat disappointing Conan the Destroyer. Legend of Conan was supposed to return Arnold and the Conan character back to its bloody, R-rated roots. The first attempts at a true third sequel never materialized before Arnold became the Governor of California. This resulted in a one-off reboot from Lionsgate, »
Now that Arnold Schwarzenegger has been back into full-time acting mode for a few years now, and since his return fans have been clamoring for his return to famous roles, like The Terminator or Conan the Barbarian. His return in Terminator: Genisys didn’t go over too well, but fans still had hope for The Legend Of Conan. But, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Conan won’t... Read More »

Filmmakers often plan ahead, and many of the movies which come out each year are designed to be part of a multi-film series. However, it doesn’t always work out that way. Sometimes, the first sequel bombs and the third movie never gets made. Here are 6 short movie franchises that remained unfinished.
There have been many successful franchises over the years. Franchises are a very hot thing right now. However, for every Star Wars, Dark Knight or Captain America franchise, there is a failed film series.
