The first geographic location mentioned in the movie is Lake Wipissing (at 0:10:52), where Robert is working, which is from 45 to 80 miles northeast of Georgian Bay. The second geographic location mentioned is Goose Bay (at 0:20:37), which is located on Sturgeon Lake 170 miles south of Lake Wipissing. See more »

Goofs

(at around 9 mins) The shots of Zack and Hanna riding in a seaplane to visit their father on Lake Wipissing were taken inside a stationary plane with computer effect scenes seen through the side windows, but most of the computer effect shots were taken with a camera pointing in the direction of flight while the windows on which they are displayed are side windows looking perpendicular to the direction of flight, resulting in the plane appearing to be flying sideways in various shots. Better Family Movies Out There
25 January 2015 | by (Tampa, Florida, USA) – See all my reviews

This is a low-budget film, supposedly $2M Canadian, but I'm not sure where they spent the money. Writing is not good, cinematography is not good, editing is horrible, acting is bad. If you watch it with your 6-9 year old, then it's probably okay. Older kids than this will laugh at the movie (adults will too). This particular director and writer specializes in these family films with pet dogs. Good clean family movie though. But, I'd say spend your money elsewhere. Dialogue is very abrupt and awkward in many parts. The film has a decent beginning and middle, but ending happens very suddenly and is very contrived. If your kids like animals, then they will probably like this film - aside from the dog, there is a bear, raccoon, wolves and salmon!
