Storyline

It's Christmas-time at Briarcliff Manor and with Sister Mary Eunice in charge, it's going to be a special holiday with a specially decorated tree. She entices Leigh Emerson, who killed 18 people from 5 families at Christmas two years ago, out of his solitary cell to attend. He had caused quite a commotion at Briarcliff the previous Christmas and she intends that he do the same this year. Lana realizes that Kit is also in the asylum and concludes that her own case has never been reported to the police. She tells Kit about Dr. Thredson. Sister Jude desperately wants to get back into the asylum and gets help from a totally unexpected source. Things don't quite go as planned. Dr. Alden has a close encounter while trying to dispose of Maggie's body. Written by garykmcd

Quotes

Sister Mary Eunice McKee: Rubies are the most glamorous of all. You couldn't have found them in this dreary town. Are they family heirlooms?
Dr. Arthur Arden: They belonged to a Jewess in the camp. She was always reminding people that she was a woman of considerable means, and that her husband was an influential and wealthy doctor in Berlin. She was constantly complaining to me about her stomach problems, and as a doctor, I thought I ought to do something about it. So I followed her, one day, to the latrine, thinking I might diagnose her...

American Horror Story: Asylum Unholy Night
5 December 2012 | by (Ireland) – See all my reviews

Christmas in the sixties and a guy dressed in a Santa outfit is murdered in the head. A little girl wakes up and finds a Santa without a beard and blood on his suit. The fake Santa puts a gun to the wife of the house trapping the two in lights hurting them bad. The Santa kills the parents with his gun. At the asylum the tree is out up and Mary makes an announcement that Christmas is back to the asylum. Mary cuts bows out of everyones hair for decorations for the weird tree. When Mary is listening to some Christmas music in walks Jude holding knife to her neck wanting to talk to her. When Jude sees Mary is the devil no one believes her. Mary goes to visit the person who caused the problems at the previous years Christmas with a Santa costume for him. The incident was that the man in custody bit off one of the workers faces. She gives him the suite and he has to take it from her. Mary sitting with all the power brings Arden into her office to talk to him. He gives her a gift that is some ruby earing's. He gives her the earing's and she loves them. He tells her how he came across the earing's and that a Jewish women swallowed them to keep them from the Nazi's. Lana back in the asylum is having a horrible time. Jude has lost her credibility and her head nun does not seem to be able to do much but she will try. Jude has a visit from Arden at the church. Arden comes to Jude looking for help to deal with Mary because he is afraid of her. Jude decides to help him really helping out Mary from herself. The monsignor comes to the asylum with a big star for the place. We see an imagination of Kit with Alma changing to Grace showing who he really loved. Lana starts to talk to Kit back into the asylum. Lana then decides to break out so she can solve all her problems. Lana tells Kit it was Oliver who killed all the people instead of him. Arden lets Jude through the back way into the asylum so she can do what she needs to save Mary. Like last Christmas one of the workers is attacked. Lana try's to call out but Oliver is behind her. Mary kills someone and Jude has one of the killer patients waiting for her in the office. Arden proved his loyalty to Mary by trapping Jude. Oliver has locked the door leaving Lana trapped with him. She thinks she can say the truth but he has gotten rid of the evidence. Kit is the one to save Lana by hitting Oliver over the head. Jude is now being treated like she treated people by hitting her with one of her canes. Jude ends up killing to save herself while Lana must keep Oliver prisoner. Good episode but I thought Ian McShane was to strange even for this show. Rabe has been so incredible and is coming for Lange's crown.

EPISODE GRADE: C+ (MVP: Lily Rabe)
