A man is killed in a borrowed sports car belonging to a wealthy business man. The murder weapon leads the team to a pawn shop where Gibbs finds a Medal of Honor belonging to his namesake, a man who used to be his father's best friend.

Storyline

Petty Officer Third Class Colin Boxer is fatally shot while driving a Porsche borrowed from self-made Calcutta-born billionaire Vijay Chaya. His fiancée Kim recently bought the murder weapon and gave it to her brother Krist Taylor, a frat party animal like his brilliant roommate Alec Dell. During the investigation, Gibbs comes across one of the first Congressional medals of Honor awarded to colored soldiers, sold by his father Jackson's former, now 'unmentionable' best friend Leroy Jethro Moore, after whom he was named before their total break-up.

Several times during this episode, there are references to "The Congressional Medal of Honor," by DiNozzo, Gibbs, and others. Since DiNozzo and Gibbs are employees of the Department of the Navy, both would know very well that the correct name of the medal is simply "Medal of Honor," and Congressional is not a proper part of the name. The medal is awarded by the President of the United States in the name of Congress. Although the medal is sometimes referred to as the Congressional Medal of Honor, the original and official title is, and always has been, simply "Medal of Honor."
