The Archaeologist in the Cocoon

An archaeologist is found murdered. His lab holds ancient remains of Neanderthals and Homosapiens; these are given to Clark to research. Brennan is jealous that she has to work the current case and not the ancient one.

Storyline

A clumsy parachutist landing in a tree discovers a corpse covered in silk cocoon webs. It's identified as pseudo-scientific author and adventurer Sutton. He married Marina Tovah, whom he met on expedition in Chechenya, from where he brought Sapiens and Neanderthal bones found on a single site. Her excessively competitive attitude, marked by Sweets as an educational risk for Christine, hinders Dr. Clark Edison's examination, putting Hodgins in the middle. Booth looks for the Sutton's problems with violent in-laws, publisher and eccentric Texan expedition sponsor. Written by KGF Vissers

Goofs

Dr. Brennan chides the publication of a book focusing entirely on dinosaur eggs as unscientific. However, quite a few scientific works exist on even more restrictive subjects (such as dinosaur footprints or the examination of a single fossil). See more »

Don't watch if you expect a documentary...
3 November 2013 | by (Montréal) – See all my reviews

I'm not agree with others reviews of this episode. Yes there's a lot of wrong science reference, but it's a television show. It's for entertainment. If you want real science reference, watch a documentary... More than 90% of the viewers of the show don't see the difference in the pronunciation of Neanderthals or how they live... it's not national geographic... it's Bones. Stop to listen if you can't do the difference between a good fiction show and an educational program...

For the episode itself.. it's not the best, but it,s a good one. Too much of the old murder not enough of the fresh one... And no enough clue about who's the murderer... I think the writer could do 2 episodes with the 2 story lines.... like the one where they have to find how the man died in the tragedy of 11-09... they don'T add a second murder ...
