The 3-minute "Captain Planet" is a live action short film in the form of a trailer. This was released back in 2012, so it has its 5th anniversary this year. Director and one of the writers is Jay Diaz and I wonder to which extent he really was planning on making a full feature film about Captain Planet. Anyway, he has moved on to other (short) projects, so it doesn't look like it will ever happen, at least not by Diaz and this may be a good thing as honestly this trailer here would not get me curious about a 100-minute film or even longer I must admit. I don't think the actors were the problem, but it was just too much in terms of action, too many characters and not enough focus on what all this is about. They also did not use the famous title character to the extent they should have (so the title is a bit of empty bait) and that mildly funny epilogue can't change that for the better. Overall, it's high time for a Captain Planet live action blockbuster, but this approach here is not the one to take. By the way, the information here on IMDb that this comes chronologically before the Don Cheadle short films is certainly incorrect. Admittedly these aren't a lot better either. The character seems quite a challenge. I give this one here a thumbs-down and suggest you skip it.
