‘Reach for the Sky’ – The 7 Most Badass Movie Cowboys of All Time

23 January 2017 4:31 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Matt Rodgers

As the DVD and Blu-ray release of Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven rides into your homes, we take a look at those heroes, anti-heroes, and low down dirty scoundrels that would make up our own cinematic posse. Sadly, none of the movie cowboys come from the Mario Van Peebles, ahead of its time, diversity epic, Posse, despite a cast that includes Stephen Baldwin, Billy Zane, and Big Daddy Kane. Alas.

Imagine if Thandie Netwon’s Westworld progressive, Maeve Millay, were to swipe on her generic tablet to the page marked “Host Influences and Templates”, then we’d like to think that amongst the hundreds of profiles garnered from one of Hollywood’s richest genres, The Western, this mostly magnificent seven would make up the first page.

Denzel Washington to Receive Career Honor From Hollywood Publicists

12 January 2017 8:13 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Hollywood publicists have selected Denzel Washington as Motion Picture Showman of the Year in recognition of his career achievements.

Washington will be honored at the 54th Annual International Cinematographers Guild Publicists awards on Feb. 24 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

“Denzel continues to excel as a major creative force in filmmaking while also recognizing the key role that publicity and promotion play in the success of filmmaking,” said awards committee chairman Henri Bollinger. .”His understanding of what it takes to attract movie audiences supports his exceptional talents as an actor and filmmaker..”

Washington produced, directed, wrote and stars in the drama “Fences,” and also reprised the Tony Award-winning role he played on Broadway in 2010.

Icg National President Steven Poster said, .”Denzel Washington brings a unique reality and a dignity to every character he portrays, be they actual or imagined people, good guys or bad. I always look forward to seeing him on screen. »

Denzel Washington Interview: The Director Reveals How He Opened Up ‘Fences’

11 January 2017 8:56 AM, PST | Thompson on Hollywood | See recent Thompson on Hollywood news »

Ever since I first met Denzel Washington on the set of Spike Lee’s “Malcolm X,” I’ve felt comfortable with him. Maybe it’s because he and my mother grew up in the same working-class New York suburb, Mount Vernon. Fact is, I grew up in the film industry with Washington, along with Mel Gibson, Debra Winger, Bruce Willis, Kevin Costner, and John Travolta; we’re all close to the same age.

I know the way he swings his tall body into that loping, cocky walk. And it’s fun to watch him, in the green room at the Writers Guild, enthusiastically wave his hands around when he talks about directing. He’s in a good mood: His August Wilson film adaptation of “Fences” has been enthusiastically received, by critics, audiences and — perhaps most crucially for its Oscar chances — actors, landing the coveted SAG Ensemble nomination.

‘The Magnificent Seven’ Stays Atop Disc Charts a Second Week

5 January 2017 11:41 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Sony Pictures’ “The Magnificent Seven” enjoyed a second week at No. 1 on the Npd VideoScan First Alert sales chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, the week ended Jan. 1.

The Western remake had debuted the previous week as the top title on both the overall sales chart and VideoScan’s dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart.

However, in the week-after-Christmas sales period, Warner’s “Suicide Squad” took over the top spot on the dedicated Blu-ray Disc sales chart, pushing “Magnificent Seven” to No. 2. The superhero adventure was No. 2 overall in its third week on shelves.

Rounding out the top five were Universal Pictures’ “The Secret Life of Pets” at No. 3 on both charts, Warner’s “Sully” at No. 4 (No. 5 on the Blu-ray chart) and Warner’s “Storks” at No. 5 (No. 4 Blu-ray).

The top new releases for the week were the Sony Pictures thriller “When the Bough Breaks” at No. »
