Before beginning the review, I have to say that it's a definite shame that the show will not be returning next season. It dealt with intelligent subjects which were handled deftly. To say that the show did not appeal to a younger viewing audience is a terrible thing to state. Did anyone ever hear of age discrimination? Some senior citizens group ought to challenge this in court. Perhaps, a boycott of the channel is in order. Hopefully, the show will be picked up by a cable network.
As was always true, pertinent issues come to the front as Harry prepares for the funeral of her first husband.
A man is fired for taking out his false teeth in the office. Though comical when you hear it, this may also form under the heading of discrimination.
Then, there is the problem of reverse discrimination as seen in affirmative action programs.
Best wishes to Kathy Bates and the rest of the fine cast in all future undertakings.
