Interesting and heartbreaking saga of adoption
juneebuggy21 September 2015
This chronicles a Canadian couple who set out to adopt a girl from a remote Ukrainian orphanage only to discover that she has four other sibling, ages 6 to 19, so they decide to try and adopt all of them.

The process takes several years and the documentary follows the family through the highs and lows. Brought up in unbearable conditions, all the children are damaged in one way or another. The oldest boy suffering from stunted growth due to lack of nutrition and looking much younger than 19. The eldest daughters story is sad as she has the most trouble adjusting to her new life, rebelling against suburban values and ultimately feeling lost as she no longer has to protect and care for her younger siblings. Really well done. I still think about this family and wonder what became of them. 03.13
