NYC Film Festival Accepting Submissions

They say if you can make it there, as in New York City, you’ll make it anywhere. For young filmmakers looking to get their work seen, New York-based 30UNDER30 Film Festival is accepting submissions now through June 30 with a July 15 late deadline. For consideration, submit a director’s bio, a synopsis of the film, as well as a link or DVD of the project. You must be under 30 years old to be eligible. Peter Dinklage Set For ‘The Thicket'; John Magaro Joins ‘The Finest Hours'; Celebrity Death Pool Pic Adds 6 To Cast
Peter Dinklage is set to star in period crime drama The Thicket, based on Joe Lansdale’s novel. He plays Shorty, a crafty bounty hunter enlisted to find a woman who has been kidnapped by a violent killer at the turn of the 20th century. He and his fellow trackers venture into the deadly no-man’s land known as the Big Thicket, a place where blood and chaos reign. Gianni Nunnari’s Hollywood Gang is producing with Dinklage and the actor’s manager David Ginsberg. Dinklage stars on HBO’s Game Of Thrones and next appears in the comedy features Taxi and Pixels. He is repped by CAA, attorney Karl Austen and Ginsberg.

Bill Bellamy Signs With Resolution; Director Jonny Campbell Inks With Verve

Bill Bellamy has signed with Resolution in all areas. He stars in and executive produces the syndicated comedy Mr. Box Office and toplined the Showtime specials Crazy Sexy Dirty and Bill Bellamy’s Ladies Night Out and exec produced and hosted last month’s Centric Comedy All Stars. Bellamy also is a recurring co-host on The Rachael Ray Show and appeared in the 2013 feature 10 Rules For Sleeping Around. He is managed by Barry Katz. Jonny Campbell has inked with Verve. The UK-based TV director also has signed to helm the BBC/HBO adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy. The Warner Bros-produced project will premiere on the BBC before airing on HBO. Campbell directed last year’s BBC Three miniseries In The Flesh and has helmed multiple episodes of UK series including Doctor Who, Shameless, Ashes And Ashes and Phoenix Nights. He is repped in the UK by 42.

Bet has announced that they've picked up The First Family and Mr. Box Office. The sitcoms had been airing in first run syndication and there are 104 episodes of each series. Both will start airing on Bet's Centric channel beginning Friday, April 19th.

Suburgatory: Tim Meadows and Paula Newsome to Guest Star in Season 2

According to the La TV Insider Examiner, Suburgatory is adding two more guest stars to fill out the world of Chatswin. Tim Meadows and Paula Newsome have signed on to play Malik's parents this season, both set to appear in the seventh and eighth episodes of the ABC comedy. Meadows will be playing Edmond, the domesticated patriarch of the family known for his turkey meatballs, while Newsome will be portraying Tracie, a lawyer who tries to steer her family into being like the Obamas.

Little has been known about Malik thus far, so meeting his parents should provide a much clearer picture on the Medium aficionado. Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios, an independent producer and distributor of first-run syndicated TV programming, has sold its sitcoms The First Family and Mr. Box Office to Tribune, Weigel and CBS Television Station Groups as part of a two-hour primetime weekend comedy block.
