The overlap of faith, sex, love, coming of age, public worries, and private concerns form the interesting mix of "Henry Gamble's Birthday Party." Icons of Fright Interview With Starry Eyes Directors Adam Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch!!

20 February 2015 6:44 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

The extremely well received cautionary horror film, Starry Eyes, has made quite the splash over the last year and every piece of acclaim that it has gotten has been definitely well deserved. It’s a viscerally shocking and well written film, filled to the brim with standout performances from everyone from Pat Healy, Noah Segan, Marc Senter and the film’s led, Alex Essoe, who absolutely steals the show as an actress faced with sacrificing parts of her self and her soul in order to gain the role of a lifetime. Easily one of the best films of 2014, Co-directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch were both nice enough to chat with us for a bit about the film and how it’s a project and film tha many people find to be extremely easy to relate to. Review: Starry Eyes

2 February 2015 7:20 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

We’ve all made sacrifices to be able to do whatever it is that we want to do. Some more than others, but it’s just a fact that in life, there are moments and opportunities that present themselves and we’re faced with the question of “how far will you go?”, a question that based on the situation, could lead decent people to become either a different person or bring out who they were all along. Some films address that question and challenge their viewers to ask themselves that same question, how far would You go to attain that goal, that dream that you’ve always had? Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer’s brilliantly haunting film, Starry Eyes, brings that question to its audience, and gives them a film that like most Great films, plants a seed in your head, one that opens up into a film that can »

Review: The ABC’S Of Death 2

2 February 2015 7:20 PM, PST | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

The ABC’S Of Death 2

2012’s ABC’S Of Death was an interesting venture. Taking 26 directors and assigning each of them a different letter of the alphabet and letting them have at it might have seemed like a good idea (and to some it was), but it ended up falling somewhere closer to a misfire than a hit. Sure, there were great entries like Marcel Sarmiento’s “D is for Dogfight” and “U is for Unearthed” directed by Kill List director Ben Wheatley, but for every one of those, there were segments like “F is for Fart“. The premise of the anthology was an interesting one, but it just didn’t amount of a very even film. When it was announced that The ABC’S Of Death 2 would be soon coming, the exact word that came from a good amount of peoples’ mouths was “Oh.” With a new roster of filmmakers including E.L. Katz, »
