A Tale of Two Cities (1917)
Several scenes from the 1917 Frank Lloyd production of "A Tale of Two Cities" are shown on a television playing in Da Far Joe's cafe.
Mad Max (1979)
The famous "eyeball" shot was originally going to be referenced on the coffee house TV in scene 6 but due to lack of rights granted to the production for use it was instead reenacted by the Yendis Character.
The Wraith (1986)
The characters in the film use the word "duge" as a substitute to "dude" which is an accurate portrayal of the group of friends and time period (1990's) from which the film is partially drawn. The term "duge" is derived from the mishearing of a line delivered by the character "Skank" from the 80's film The Wraith. It caught on and became a trope around the South Bay in various circles.
Clerks (1994)
A few shout outs are made to this great 90's film.
