"Reality" doesn't get much faker than this.

The narrative that production desperately tries to push season after season is the most awfully force awkward thing I've ever seen. It's so unbelievably scripted and unnatural. Season 3 was by far the worst. Like Jeremiah said, "it's about 60% real" and producers couldn't make it work.

awful ppl both seasons

Idk how scripted and fake this show is .But wow the people just get worse an worse.... Like season 3 iva the manipulative psychopath..... The devil worshiper..... And then you got the lovely pregnant girl who pretends to be decent like the rest an is just as cold an sick hearted. I couldnt believe how she straight used that guy who did nothing but support and love her. When literally her whole community wouldnt.... Then after the baby is born an she doesnt need him anymore shes like , thanks for the ride. I love how she tells this poor man as hes stuttering and being destroyed inside to basically get over it dont make it worse by showing the cameras you nothing but a good man to me. Then she instantly laughs as she fully exits the car in the background noise..... Nothing worth then people that claim to live for God , yet do nothing but make a complete mockery of everything they preach. Some of the worst examples of Godly people on cable.... I have a hard time believing they are any religion or more then bad actors. If this is really them thats really sad. No wonder the worlds falling apart if this is suppose to be a good moral example.... Out of all of them only one even tried to act like a decent human being let alone Christian.... Not friendly not forgiving not nice , deceitful , hypocritical , superficial , quick to hate and shun there own , talk fouly about each other every chance they get. Are willing to destroy each others life for the smallest personal reasons or gains..... People like this have helped bring us to the lovely hate filled ,zero trust ,anxiety filled times were going through. World peace is the easiest thing in the world to do an something we can all afford. Yet not once has a majority chosen to embrace the simple understanding, tolerance, morals ,etiquette , respect an civility needed. AKA just being nice to others.... Insane we cant accomplish that on a small scale to date yet large. Knowing with 100% certainty it would lead to world peace..... Think how truly sad that is..... Isnt it about time we change that?!?!? Quit dividing ourselves and hurting each other. Instead take a moment be kind , become united. Where all here in this world together. Where all human beings . If you dont want to see a future filled with kindness and peace then let those be the minority. Not the other way around.

Watched the whole first series today (yeah I didn't do much today lol)

I think this series is underrated on IMDb. It may be because I watched an entire season at once, which put the whole story together. Maybe it's not that enjoyable to watch single episodes without understanding the social dynamics between all the individuals. I liked watching this show because it was almost like an academic sociology experiment, almost text book material if thought about scientifically. It was incredibly interesting to watch how these individuals lives changed after leaving the Amish community to go to NYC. While most reality shows are pretty scripted (for example the Amish Mafia show... ugh), I'd say this felt the least scripted out of many reality shows. These individuals seem so genuine about their emotions, and how they communicate them. Myself, living in the land of flakes and nuts (California), it's kind of a relief to watch this show and see people not hiding much about who they are. Seeing the normal American life from their perspective of being Amish was enlightening to me in recognizing things we take for granted in the "English world".

Plot twist
jordanpresnell29 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Breaking Amish at first glance appears to be a show about amish teenagers that are released into the world and forced to make a decision to return to their amish upbringing or joining the rest of the world in the 21st century.

The plot twist: It's actually just a show about some teenagers growing up in Independence Missouri. They aren't actually amish, the neck beards and clothing choices and lack of cultural understanding stem from years of inbreeding and failed public education.

few young people
Kirpianuscus17 July 2018
For a viewer from East Europe, like me, Amish comunity remains an obscure subject. not for poor informations but for its deep senses defining it. this serie was a good answer. few young people out of comunity. relations, desires, dreams, personal stories. crisis, traits of tradition and conflicts. and answers to challenges inspired by the HYolly Book. a conservative comunity and the grow up of few young members in the contact with ordinary life. far to be boring , it represents a wise perspective about needs and targets of the other. a sort of sociological documentary, using the rules of Tv show.
