Wow!

Having followed the progress of this short film since its first announcement, I finally got to view it when it played before the Soska twin's excellent American Mary at the Glasgow Film Theatre. I wasn't disappointed.

To give too much away about the plot would be a disservice to a truly original and well made film. As a body horror, it ticks all the boxes. As a black comedy, it ticks all the boxes. And as entertainment, it ticks all the boxes (although a strong disposition - and stomach - may be needed!).

Gordon Holliday, as the only cast member, puts in an incredibly committed performance with very little dialogue. The special effects are very effective and used sparingly which, coupled with some great sound design, lets the audience use their imagination to build the complete picture.

For a first time director, this is more than a promising debut. It looks great (big props to Paul John Ross for his photography) and the overall product is more professional than a film made for next-to-nothing has any right to be.

Gruesome reality horror

For being a first time writer/director, Andy has certainly hit the nail on the head with his effort. Taking a hush hush, mental condition and bringing it, in full graphic detail to the fore. He hasn't gone for a gore feast as you might have expected, to make an impact. He has taken a slow, methodical, approach to a real life subject, giving you an insight to this condition. At the same time, the attention to detail, and the nature of the camera work, there is a good chance this short film will affect you deeply, whether physically or mentally, it WILL get to you!!!

If ! were to sum this up in half a dozen words ............. Find it, watch it, be affected!!!
