I'm not one to review movies, in fact this is my first review in the three years I've been on IMDb, but I think it's important to give an honest opinion on this one since the rating unfortunately does not reflect the quality of the movie. I don't want other people to be sucked in as a result of ratings which I honestly believe are from people involved in the film.
I'm from South Africa and always on the lookout for good South African movies, but this was a disappointment and not at all deserving of its current 6.7 rating. The storyline was unoriginal and the effects were poorly done, the movie looked as if it was done on a shoestring budget, but what really let this down was the acting. I don't like to pick on individual actors' performances, especially those who are still trying to make a name for themselves, but the acting here from the lead actress was shockingly bad. It did improve slightly as the film went on, but it was pretty poor throughout. The rest of the cast were better, but still bad. The best performance was given by the guy who played Jules - again not great, but possibly some potential there.
A lot of what happened in the film didn't add up and it seemed to jump ahead at times, leaving me wondering if I'd somehow skipped a scene. It was incredibly predictable and just poorly done. I'll watch just about anything, but this barely held my attention. Really wanted to like it, but my rating of four stars is, I feel, generous.
