This, the final episode of the first series, opens with Frank driving Jet, a teenaged hacker, to a rendezvous; she has a bad feeling about it but Frank won't change the deal and takes her to his employer. Shortly afterwards a large group of heavily armed men arrive with the intention of killing her! Sensing something is wrong Frank returns and rescues her. She is still in extreme danger though; Jet has uncovered evidence that Juliette's boss, a senior DCRF (French Intelligence) officer is corrupt and he will use his forces to eliminate her, claiming she is a terrorist. He tries to get to Frank by kidnapping Carla and ordering him to bring Jet to a meeting point where he intends to kill everybody. If Frank he is to survive he will have to seek the help of his friend Inspector Tarconi and determine whether Juliette is a friend or a foe.
The makers certainly wanted this season finale to be exciting it has some best action of the series so far; there are shootings, fights, car chases and even the destruction of a building with a rocket launcher. The tension is higher than usual thanks to a particularly fine adversary and the possibility that key characters could be written out to make way for new people in series two. Having Frank transport a woman rather than an item took the series back to its roots and Chelsea Hobbs did a decent job as Jet. It was nice to see Carla getting caught up in the action, Andrea Osvárt does a fine job in the role showing she can do more than play somebody who talks on the phone. When the series started I was unsure about having somebody other than Jason Statham playing driver Frank Martin but Chris Vance has proved to be a great substitute and in this episode he is particularly good as Frank appears to be genuinely angry with his adversaries. If there is a slight disappointment it is the fact that Dieter doesn't appear and we get to the end of the season without Frank using the 'Red Car'.
