Been There
4 March 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

OUT THERE is a curious show. It's a very stereotypical coming of age story that tries to distinguish itself by being animated and populated with bizarre character design. There's no explanation as to why some characters are humanoid and others resemble weird creatures. A few look like inhabitants of ADVENTURE TIME which despite being targeted for kids is a much fresher, hipper show. OUT THERE offers nothing new and retreads a lot of the same turf that FREAKS AND GEEKS did with that show being a way too obvious influence. The animation is nothing special, but this show is mostly defeated by weak writing and poor jokes. It's not very funny and playing teen angst for seriousness when you've got a main character with a werewolf face kind of sums up how poorly conceived this whole thing is.
