It's Tanya's birthday and Lily puts on a small party for her, but rather than talk about Bernie, Lily is more focused on her china ornaments. Simon has to cry for a play, but struggles to achieve the emotion.
I think this may just be the funniest and most accomplished episode so far, it works on pretty much every level. Seeing Gary sat there with a party hat, with chocolate rolls on a plate, hilarious.
Clive is now reaching major levels of stress and depression, he seems like he's hurtling towards a meltdown. Lily's little problem is concerning but is pretty funny.
Samantha Spiro is marvellous here, she goes to town with that voice and the laugh, she's wonderfully funny, Liz is on good form.
Gary's sequence was funny, but all I can see in my mind's eye is Ray Purchase whipping his clothes off. What a physique!
