The curse is alive!

The Fog... Davy Jones and the Flying Dutchman ghost story get together by the hand of Rui Constantino, that once again does not disapoint!

We've got CGI, reality and props to deliver us this short movie.

It has great coesion from start to finish - Simple, straight line that delivers a simple, but powerful story: modern crew finds an old artifact and his ghost keeper wants to reclaim, along woth his hord of ghostly monsters.

Miguel D. Dias gives life to Davy Jones with his unique way to perform and adds another vilain to his resumé, while the team form Last Road give life to the other ghosts awesomely.

So, this is a must watch short movie! You will not regret it.

From the depths of the ocean they return.

Just saw the movie yesterday, and it was a good movie, we all know that director Rui Constantino works on the low budget basis, but the things this man can do it´s just incredible, since i saw (The Thing Returns) i´ve became a fan of his movies.

And this one is a must buy for all fans who like ghost stories, i´ve always liked them since i was a child, so i got into this expecting to have fun and i did, the creatures were amazing, the ship was amazing, capt davey jones was very different from the ghost stories he was a creature but with a more powerfull look, along with his crew.

And once they got out of the fog the real threat was always present throughtout the movie, Miguel D. Dias (Captain Jones) does a great job at it, even if he doesn´t say a single word, his persona emerges from the depths to put fear on all of us.

The soundtrack is good along with the sets and the special effects.

I recomend this movie because it´s a lot of fun and if you like scary ghost stories like me, you will have a blast.

A good ghost story.

What we have here is some underwater curse legend of horror combined with ghostly creatures and I have to say that I enjoyed this film. In some ways it reminded me of Hitchcock's The Birds, very similar vibe and setting. The fog effects are brilliant in their simplicity.

Generally performances are good.

It uses its landscape shots, lighting, and music to create this almost old ghost story tone to it.

However, you spend enough time with all of them so much that when the fog finally comes you do have this feeling of worry ness that you don't what anything to happen to any of them.

Definitely seen worse and for a low budget a good job done by all.

The fog is everywhere, how can you escape ?

This is a well done movie. The scripting is great for a horror movie. The acting is adequate. The pacing worked well for me.

The story confronts the characters with a mysterious danger they are very powerless against. Which is a nice dynamic.

As for as scariness it is not high on the scale for me at all. There were some suspenseful scenes but for me personally it wasn't that scary.

The creatures and Captain Davey Jones were awesome, and Miguel D. Dias once again shows us that we can make any villain become cool, another good work from him in this short movie.

The soundtrack is good, and the sets were also good.

I´ll give this one an 8, just for the performances and the story that is very spooky.

It rises from the depths...

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was on my watchlist for sometime, and i was eager to see it, when it was released it more amazing than i was expecting from a portuguese studio, these guys really know what they are doing, this movie is straight scary ghost story, the flying dutchman rising from beneath the waters was something incredible for me, what a sight !!

Then it makes his way to shore to the house were the gun is, only to encounter two men, the fog transports the old crew of monsters and a disfugured captain davey jones to the house, it feels like the fog has a life of it´s own, as it enters trought corridors and doors, windows, it´s scary enough to make us wondering what will happen.

The cast did an amazing performance, and i liked the creatures a lot.

A good movie and somewhat different from the usual works this company brings us.

The ancient tale of the flying dutchman.

A solid, powerful story, slowly developing and photographed with a unique sense for tension.

The story telling in the beginning of the movie says it all, the legend of the flying dutchman proves once more that it´s real, the creepy atmosphere on the ship brings the curse to shore along with captain davey jones and his mates to retrieve his golden pistol, what happens next his the mystery envolving the characters showing us that nobody is safe, once the fog surrounds the house and finds a way to get in, the danger is there and it´s real.

This movie is a gem, one of the best in his filmography, it´s 9 for me.

The curse of the fog is great.

Warning: Spoilers
Now for this curse, we got a group of divers that go to the deep end of the ocean, only to find the remains of the flying dutchman, inside they find the golden pistol of captain davey jones, sometime later a salesman goes to a house in the countryside, to sell it, to a very rich man.

He starts to translate the inscriptions on the gun, making the curse real, and bringing back from the depths the flying dutchman along with captain davey jones and his crew, but they are not regular men, just some visceral creatures.

Reminded me a lot of those books from craft.

This is a nice hommage to the fog from carpenter, and i think director Rui Constantino did a terrific job here, we can see that he is a true fan of Carpenter´s work, and he shows us in this movie, the path that leads us to find what makes a good ghost story movie.

The curse within the fog.
harpboss20 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It isn't the most story and action-driven film. It is a satisfying tale of the old legend of the ghost ship, i like it, but don´t expect too much.

The cast put on good performances, the soundtrack is scary.

Visually the fog is cool, it is somewhat low-key in terms of practical effects, but it works out well in favor of the movie. And believe it or not, it brings something scary to all of it, from the way it fills the house, as it goes from room to room, to find his victims, transforming itself in the creatures and Capt. Jones.

My rating lands on a six out of ten stars, because it brings some good elements to the picture, and when it´s over, you still think about it, about the legend of the ship and the fog.

The flying dutchman returns.
JohnStryker14 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is a typical horror thriller from director Rui Constantino, that gives us a different approach to the legend of the flying dutchman, here we see captain jones returning from the dead to reclaim his old gun back, after a bunch of divers find it inside his wreckage ship.

He comes back but he is not alone, along with his crew from hell, several monsters.

The vibe of the old days of horror is here, but i just wish it had more running time.

The soundtrack and the cast do a great job at it.

It's a really low budget film, but it certainly doesn't look like it.

The CGI is good for a short movie like this.

All in all it´s a 7 for me.
