An adaptation of the successful American sitcom that tells the story of four mature women who share an apartment in the big city. The women create an alternative family unite after their own family has broken up or dispersed.
This show is the dutch version of the original American series from the late 80's and early 90's.
Unfortunately it was just a weak rip-off. This dutch show comes nowhere near the quality of the original, the only question anyone could ever have after seeing this show is ; Why would anyone ever want to make this?
It's just a shame that such good actresses agreed to do this. I feel that the casting was also not really done properly, as Loes Luca plays the part of the man-eating sex-crazed character. I don't really see that.
Most of the material is just a translation of the original episodes of the American show, and i'm being polite here.
There are other dutch shows that have been inspired by older American or British shows, but they have been done in a way where they have something of their own. Like Sam Sam is inspired by the British show Man about the house, but has it's own thing.
Anyone who knows the original American golden girls shouldn't waste their time watching this show. And anyone who doesn't know the original show should watch that!
Bea Arthur, Betty white, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Ghetty are legendary and impossible to replace. If you want to make a show like this you should never try to copy it literally but make it your own thing that is based on it. At least then you have a chance of making a decent show with some success.
