Trivia

At one point, Colin Barnes (played by Eric Close) rages that if the SVU team isn't capable of finding his missing daughter, perhaps they should turn the case over to the FBI. In "Without a Trace", Eric Close played an FBI agent who was a member of the missing persons team. See more »

Envy of Donor 141
8 September 2013 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

As TV series go on sometimes the plots truly get outlandish. In this case the SVU squad has a truly outlandish situation to deal with.

After a young teen goes missing the SVU squad is called in and as it turns out the girl is the product of donated sperm as is her younger brother as the man she thought was her biological father is impotent.

But this turns out to be the tip of the iceberg. The donor is Eric Close a highly successful surgeon who has donated his little swimmers and created a veritable population explosion in the metropolitan area. He's also arrogant, self righteous and quite full of himself, a guy who it is real easy to hate.

The episode wasn't that clear on how another person who went to college with Close found out he was donor 141. But James Van Der Beek found out and he's been visiting all of his donor babes now teens. He seems to have fathered mostly girls.

In the end Van Der Beek takes some truly malevolent revenge out on Close but I'm not sure what he can be prosecuted for in the end.

A bit bizarre for my taste for a top SVU episode, but all right.
