Problematic framing and claims
random-7077816 January 2020
I do like the presenter. Hughes is certainly not published in peer reviewed work in the field. But she does a fairly good job of keeping it lively.

But I am concerned about the framing. For example when it comes to Christianity and women, the issue is whether Christianity is at variance from the general view of women at the time. In additional to being an atheist, I certainly do agree women have been second class citizens , no only for all of history, but certainly all of pre history and this probably goes back to our earliest hominid ancestors as well. and I think it is fine to sift through and find and highlight exceptions. That said the critique of Christianity in this aspect must be made in the context. In the context of Abrahamic religions one cannot make the argument that Christianity is more sexist in either its tenets or its actual history. nor can one do so compared to religiosity virtually anywhere and at any time
