I wasn't sure what to expect based on the trailer. I knew there was joy...and I knew there was pain (possibly death). I saw and felt both in the movie. This is my first movie review online, but I really did walk away with a message.
I live in NJ, but am grew up in a happy, loving (albeit "quirky") home in Virginia. I still felt a connection to the boys, who grew up in NJ in broken homes. After the showing at the film festival, the director said it was a story for those who grew up in a broken home...I disagree that its limited to that group. I heard a message loud and clear...No matter how bad we think we have it (and so many of us do), we need to open our eyes and realize/appreciate the wonderful things we have. No one's life is perfect, and if we focus on the bad we may inadvertently destroy the good instead.
