a History program must have correct and supportable FACTS . Now Eisenbach killing off Lt. Col. John K. Waters, in Pattons Hammelburg raid is beyond question inexcusable . the man survived and became a 4 star General. the correct fact would have been that Capt.Baum (commander of the raid)ended up in the same Hospital as Col. Waters . or that Task force Baum drove nearly 60 miles behind German lines in 24 hours. Abe Baum carried on with the raid even though he was wounded early on at Gemunden. when asked by Stiller (Pattons staff officer sent on the raid because he knew Waters by sight) "you want to go back" Baum replied "We don't Quit" Columbia University should look into the facts on his Dissertation.

Inaccurate info about rescue of Johnny Waters
luvdfly25 April 2024
Patton's rescue of his son-in-law did not result in his son-in-law being killed. He was wounded (buttocks or stomach - much debate). He lived to go home, father two sons and outlived his wife, Gen. Patton's daughter, Beatrice Patton, named after his wife. He went on to serve his country and become a 4 star general. He died in 1989 at the age of 82. Felt this needed to be made known. Gen. Patton may not have been perfect but this is just untrue. It was definitely a questionable move had unfortunate results but his son-in-laws death relating to that rescue is not true. The other items, as far as I know, are true.
