Garishly-shot indie horror
Leofwine_draca30 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
BLACK GHOSTS is another example of a garishly-shot indie horror flick, strong on atmosphere but low on general production and technical values. The plot would be stretched out for a ten-minute short but here feels ridiculously flimsy. A woman dies and her girlfriend is unable to come to terms with the death, so she decides to open a portal into the netherworld in a bid to see her again. Unfortunately this leads to her being haunted by sinister spirits. There's a lot of primary colours and general darkness, but bad acting and a lack of cohesion that renders it very testing on the viewer's patience.

Why this is the worst movie ever created
orlandosiekas26 July 2023
As an avid horror movie enthusiast, I have always embraced the thrilling experiences that the genre offers. However, my recent encounter with the movie that shall not be named has left me scarred and questioning the existence of any redeemable qualities in a film. This atrocity masquerading as a horror movie was an absolute abomination that brought neither fear nor entertainment but instead delivered an agonizing torture for every viewer unfortunate enough to endure it.

From the very beginning, it was evident that this movie lacked even the most basic elements of storytelling. The absence of a coherent script and meaningful dialogues stripped away any chance of creating an engaging plot or relatable characters. Instead, viewers were subjected to incomprehensible mumbo jumbo uttered in slow-motion, which only served to amplify the overall feeling of confusion and frustration.

The level of inappropriateness displayed in this film was appalling. It is one thing for a horror movie to push boundaries to evoke fear, but this production crossed every line of decency with explicit scenes. It became evident that the filmmakers relied on these cheap tactics as a desperate attempt to compensate for the complete absence of substance or true horror elements. It is utterly disrespectful to the art of cinema when a movie attempts to mask its incompetence with exploitative and tasteless content.

Moreover, the acting in this disaster can only be described as cringe-worthy. The unfortunate actors were left with nothing to work with, given the lack of any coherent direction or dialogues. Their performances seemed forced and amateurish. Such desperate attempts only served to highlight the film's desperation and ineptitude.

The pacing of the movie was nothing short of unbearable. Each passing minute felt like an excruciating eternity, and the urge to fast-forward became increasingly irresistible. The absence of any captivating or suspenseful moments left me struggling to maintain even the slightest interest in the unfolding nightmare before me. I resorted to increasing the playback speed to 2x, hoping that the suffering would end sooner, but alas, even that brought no relief.

In conclusion, this movie was an absolute catastrophe, leaving no room for doubt that it is, unequivocally, the worst movie ever created. The lack of a proper script, the inappropriateness of its content, the abysmal acting, and the agonizingly slow pace all combined to deliver a cinematic travesty of unparalleled proportions. I implore all fellow movie enthusiasts to steer clear of this monstrosity, lest you subject yourselves to a torturous experience that defiles the very essence of filmmaking.

The best horror movie I have ever fallen asleep to
skylarblue-5608923 August 2018
This movie has one of the weirdest plots I have ever seen. Basically a lesbian who's horny for her dead girlfriend opens a portal to some hellish dimension and these terribly edited black masses stalk her and she learns that her dead girlfriend is like the queen of these weird black ghosts and if she keeps trying to contact the gf the main character will go crazy or something, at least that's what I got out of it. The ghosts in the movie aren't really all that bad, it's just that the main girl is really really dumb and really really blinded by her hormonal lesbian desires.

The effects leave a bit to be desired, the ghosts in the movie look like someone went frame by frame and took the airbrush tool in photoshop with black and made some amorphous shape then digitally slapped some very cheesy looking white face over a head blob, but I feel like that adds to the character.

The best part about the movie is falling asleep during it and waking up to find that literally nothing going on makes any sense whatsoever. I personally fell asleep during this movie 3 times and I was very entertained by the prospect of waking up to see what senseless debauchery was occurring at that moment, watching for a couple minutes, then waking up a little later to try to string together the most absurd plot line I could think of (which was never as absurd as what actually happened, mind you).

All in all, this movie is best watched very very late at night, and if possible, while very very intoxicated. I've never drank but I somehow imagine being mind-numbingly drunk or high would makes this experience infinitely more absurd, and therefore, infinitely better in every way.

Maybe trippiest movie I've ever seen.

Warning: Spoilers
There is horror, but I would use the label surrealism. There are conversations and images that invite you to bring your own interpretations. There are subjects of The Beyond that we just aren't equiped to understand, even when we do get glimpses, and I think this film presents that well. It is slow, and the ending is non-conclusive, so if that bothers the viewer, not the movie for you. If you are open to unique ideas and heavy symbolism, it is extremely enjoyable.

Different

Not your typical horror film, the story unwinds slowly but doesn't drag. It takes its time to build atmosphere and dread without racing through the story.

The ghosts, spirits, entities, whatever they are, are menacing but the effects were done cheaply and it shows. The lead actress is competent and kept me watching, while the photography is very good. The scenery is beautiful. It did tend to get a little lost about halfway through but got itself back on track.

This isn't a film for everyone, but its a change from the usual found footage movies and slasher gore.

My kinda film
RedQueenIMDB18 June 2023
Swedish horror is growing on me. Because it's SCARY. Yeah, it was like a dream sequence, but that doesn't mean it wasn't really happening. And I think that's my worst fear, not knowing if things are happening the way they're supposed to.

Special effects I thought were very artistic, not overly computerized. And I really liked that.

I thought all the acting was horrendous. Script was SLOW. Slow. You can get really altered & still follow along just fine. Doesn't make any sense anyway. So don't be expecting that. The Swedes have merely levelled up art horror. So you have to love art to get into this one.
