Furious Molecules' new parody web series 'Harry Potter and the Ten Years Later' takes a look at our hero ten years after taking down He-Whose-Name-Nobody-Quite-Remembers (but before that sappy epilogue full of kids). Things have changed significantly in Harry's world. With no dark wizards or witches left, the Ministry of Magic's Auror Department shuts down, leaving Harry unemployed. Ginny wants to start a family, Hermione is having doubts about her goody-goody lifestyle, and Ron... well, he's Ron. Everything seems very average in a late-twenties-problem kind of way-- but as always, trouble finds Harry yet again. Written by Furious Molecules

Game-changing! Brilliant! I laughed until I cried!
22 March 2015 | by See all my reviews

It's difficult to know how to rate this. By the standards of even the worst and most poorly-funded projects, it is beneath them all, and would not deserve a single star. However, it would be fair to rate this as if it were a project from hobbyists and film student. And so it receives, ...One star! Even by the lowest standards possible, Youtube projects, it still fails. Never before has the term "Don't quit your day jobs" been more appropriate. There was not a single element which was done at the level of a barely-decent student film. From the sound, to the lighting, the camera work, or the acting/direction, it was all equally foul. I am shocked that those who were involved with this project are not horrible embarrassed by it. Especially considering how good some student projects have become currently. After all, this isn't the 80's or 90's any more. The bar has been raised very high. There are some truly fabulous projects from first-time directors, actors, and even camera/post. This film however, wasn't made by those people.

But I could be mistaken. I mean, this might actually be a project using non-actors, made by a non-director, and produced for no reason aside from ordinary people attempting a project, who've never done it before, never studied it, and have no interest whatsoever in working in that field. And in that situation, I'd have to give it a higher rating, of course, ...TWO stars! It sucks even in THAT ridiculously forgiving scenario. There are incredibly old people, suffering from advanced senility, who are given cameras at their care facilities, who turn out projects more polished than this. Somewhere, I bet there is a school for children with severe learning disabilities, who have been given cameras to help them pass the time, and as therapy, and those cameras barely even work, and STILL their projects shine by comparison to this one. And that was during a week where all of them were off their meds! You could conceivably hand your camera to some of the more guest-friendly animals at the petting zoo, and end up with footage which is easier to digest than this horrific project. Well, the primates at least.

In closing, we've found a new ulra-low standard by which to compare all future projects against. And for that, the team behind this film is owed thanks.
