Sin City Sequel Release Moved to 2014

20 hours ago | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was originally set to be released this October, but it has been pushed back nearly a year. Production started early this year at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin and no reason has been given for the delay. However, we do have a new release date and its August 22, 2014.

There’s nothing currently scheduled to compete with it on that weekend, but August 1st sees the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, August 8th has Universal’s Dracula, and the 15th is when The Expendables 3 will open. It’s going to be a big month for genre films and we wouldn’t be surprised if Sin City: A Dame to Kill for changes release dates once again. We’ll let readers know as soon as more information becomes available.

Close up: How super is Man of Steel?

Catch up with the last seven days in the world of film

The big story

It's big. Very big. It could be the biggest ever. Man of Steel is here, the latest Superman film, directed by Zack Snyder and with Christopher Nolan's sticky fingerprints all over it. The film itself burst fully formed into the media at 4am on Tuesday morning, when the worldwide media embargo was lifted. Our first look review handed it three big stars, an assessment repeated when the capo, Peter Bradshaw, gave his verdict.

Critics across the planet weighed in, with the word being on the positive side of mixed. That of course cut no ice with the big cheeses at Warner Bros, who have already commissioned a sequel; nor with our man in the stalls, Joe Queenan, who took the exact opposite view to WB. Give the superheroes a rest, was his basic message. »

Actor to join Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich in latest instalment of Sylvester Stallone's star-packed series

Mel Gibson is to play the villain in the next instalment of Sylvester Stallone's 80s action throwback saga The Expendables, according to Showbiz411.com.

The gossip site quotes a source as suggesting that Gibson will join fellow newcomers Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich in The Expendables 3, which will also star series regulars Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Other rumoured new recruits include Wesley Snipes and Steven Seagal. Stallone tweeted in April that Gibson had turned down the chance to direct the next instalment in the saga; now it appears the former A-lister has agreed to a turn in front of the cameras instead.

Gibson has struggled to find currency in Hollywood following a period of negative publicity stretching back to 2006, when he reportedly made antisemitic comments to »

Mel Gibson On For Expendables 3?

9 June 2013 9:21 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

As the Expendables franchise dodders with stubborn muscularity towards its third instalment, the casting options seem to be dwindling. By our back-of-an-envelope calculations, the only remaining '80s action stars still mobile and capable of wielding weaponry are Michael Biehn, Mel Gibson and Jet from Gladiators. Well, Showbiz 411 is reporting that one of them has got the call on the Stallonephone. It's not Jet. It's Gibson who's said to be in talks to play The Expendables 3's big bad. If this comes together it'll represent a possible first step on the long road to public rehabilitation for Gibson, adding Martin Riggs to a Planet Hollywood-esque cast roster that already boasts John Rambo, Ivan Drago, John McClane and John Matrix (there were a lot of Johns about in the '80s). Also on board are Nicholas Cage, Steven Seagal, Milla Jovovich and possibly Wesley Snipes and Jackie Chan.Gibson, long »

Mel Gibson May Be the Villain in ‘The Expendables 3?’

7 June 2013 7:45 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

The Expendables 3” may have recruited a great villain.

According to Showbiz 411’s sources, the action hero team may have to face Mel Gibson. No official confirmation at this time, but the site’s sources described it as “serious.”

If Gibson is recruited, then he will join a very good company of new recruits, including Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Nicolas Cage and Milla Jovovich.

Back in April, Sylvester Stallone wanted Gibson to direct the third installment, but was turned down. “Red Hill” director Patrick Hughes took the helm instead, but maybe Gibson wanted to be involved after all.

Gibson will be seen in the upcoming “Machete Kills” as a crazed drug dealer villain in that film.

So what you guys think about Gibson trying to take down the Expendables team?

A New, Curious Mel Gibson Rumor

7 June 2013 12:17 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Will Mel Gibson be in "The Expendables 3"? Stranger Mel Gibson things have certainly happened!

According to a rumor in Showbiz411, Gibson is eyeing the villain role in the third installment of the franchise that pits elder action stars together on various missions. Joining Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger in this round are Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich. In prior "Expendables" movies, Eric Roberts, Steve Austin and Jean-Claude Van Damme have all starred as villains.

As SlashFilm notes, Stallone once tried to get Gibson to direct "Expendables 3," but tweeted that "Mel's living his own life."

While he's had a horrible run of late (personal troubles aside, Gibson's last big movie, "The Beaver," was an all-out flop), Gibson does star in "Machete Kills," alongside fellow highly respected actors like Lady Gaga and Charlie Sheen.
