In 1889, toymaker Ernest Manby's shop contains teddy bears - actually first produced in 1902 - and toys which replicate the "sawing a woman in half" stage illusion, which was not performed until 1921.
A small boy is given a teddy bear, but these were not available in the United Kingdom until approximately 1903, which is fourteen years after this episode is set.
At the beginning, the toy maker to be murdered runs out of his store, grabbing a teddy bear, which he hands to a street kid moments later. Teddy bears were only invented at the beginning of the 20th century, 15 to 20 years after the time frame of the series.
