Both intriguing and amusing
3 November 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

There is a lot going on in this episode with seeds being sown for potential future plot lines and the continuation of previous plot developments. Steve - quite rightly - becomes increasingly concerned at how his resurrection (a plot devise I've never much liked) is negatively affecting Claudia. And Artie is becoming increasingly frantic about artifacts missing from the warehouse - artifacts he placed there. Meanwhile, Mrs. Frederic calls Claudia to a meeting where she begins Claudia's "how to be a Regent" training. Pete and Myka are investigating the seemingly miraculous recovery of an injured hockey player. It is this plot line, a "if wishes came true" story that is pretty amusing and ends with Pete telling Myka he loves her but whether it is a friendship love or romantic love is not entirely clear. Hopefully, it's the former. Pete's adolescent humor can be tiresome and annoying - especially the cruder sort - but it can also be amusing and even down right funny. Pete's describing himself as Myka's "sassy friend" is a hoot. In the Mrs. F/Claudia storyline we learn that artifacts can be associated with ordinary people and not just scientists, writers or mythological characters. That's OK once in a while but hopefully the writers won't get so lazy and unimaginative as to regularly rely on "ordinary" artifacts. One of the fun things about this show are the references to scientists, writers and other actual characters even though their connection to artifacts is hooey - it's imaginative hooey. A solid episode filled with impending doom and humor.
