Teen Beach Movie -- Life's a beach for surfers Brady and McKenzie -- until a rogue wave magically transports them inside the classic '60s beach party flick, Wet Side Story, where a full-blown rivalry between bikers and surfers threatens to erupt. There, amidst a sea of surfing, singing and dancing, Brady and Mack accidentally change the storyline, and the film's dreamy hero and heroine fall for them instead of for each other!

Did You Know?

If you notice, all of the actresses in Teen Beach Movie (2013) (TV) have high-waist bikinis that cover their navels. Most of the actresses in the "Beach" movies of the 60's wore regular bikinis of the time that did expose their navels but not Ms. Annette Funicello. Ms. Funicello was still under contract with Disney at the time and was on loan to do the Beach movies. It is a widely reported myth that Mr. Walt Disney forbid Annette from exposing her navel. Ms. Funicello addressed this issue in her 1994 autobiography where explained she choose not to expose her navel "out of respect" for Mr. Disney.See more »
Continuity: During the song "Make it stop", Mack's shorts cover her navel. In one shot, her navel can be seen. The next time we see her shorts, it is covered up again.See more »
McKenzie:Remember that movie about the robot who drank liquor from an abandoned spaceship, turned into a vampire middle school teacher who taught the entire school how to salsa dance, and then went on to win the regional championship?
McKenzie:That movie made more sense than this.

Very pleasant surprise!, 21 July 2013

I'm going to be honest, I wasn't planning on watching this. My little sister was very hyped up over this and recorded it the night it premiered and loved it. The next morning as we were waiting for something she turned it on and I had enough interest to finish it.

In short, the movie is silly. VERY silly. But it's a very GOOD silly. It really captures the essence of those old 60s beach movies. People seem to forget that this is basically what that is. After all, the title *is* "Teen Beach Movie." If you haven't seen those movies before, you might not enjoy it nearly as much.

The music is a fun throwback (I LOVE 60s music). I found it quite funny, especially when you take into consideration that this is basically a giant parody. The characters in the musical might seem flat, but it IS a *teen beach movie.* They're stupid and shallow because that's how they were written decades ago. The same applies to the plot.

I especially loved how they portrayed two different people being suddenly thrown into a musical, with one loving it and one can't standing it. Brady's and Mack's music number "I Can't Stop Singing" was my favorite, with them being confused about what was going on and how they wished they could stop but they couldn't.

Besides that, there are good messages, such as doing what you want and even feminist ideas (girls are equal to boys).

If you come here to see an Oscar-material movie, you have made a huge mistake. If you come to have some silly fun for an hour and half, you have come to the right place.

And remember: IT IS A PARODY. Don't take it too seriously.
