Did You Know?

According to the "Stranded" trailer, there are two characters whose names were changed from the originals. Liza is referred to as Nikki by a character who appears to be Grant, however - if Jason was referencing this other male character in the trailer - his name was supposed to be Doug. See more »

Vaas: What, you want to run? Huh? You want to run, you want to disrespect me? You want to fuck with me? I mean, you come here, with your... with your pretty-boy face, right, and your pretty-boy phone, your dimwit brother, and you want to fuck with me. *You want to fuck with me.* I like that - no, I *respect* that. I'm gonna give you thirty seconds, and if the jungle doesn't eat you up alive, *I will.*

Great Game!
6 May 2015 | by See all my reviews

I got this game at a friends recommendation and realized how much the new Tomb Raider is really just a bad clone of Far Cry 3. Without including any spoilers, everything about Far Cry 3 is really nice and it would have deserved 10 stars for an original story and an interesting playing style.

Nevertheless, I was very unhappy about about the "stealth" mechanics of the game which is why I wanted to leave a review. The "stealth" and "sneaking" seem alright to some point but it still has a very long way to go when it comes to sound-suppressor kills, silent knife take-downs and body management.

One thing is that if you are overseeing a camp of baddies and use a sniper with a sound- suppressor, once the body is discovered, the baddies know exactly where you are. Even if they don't see you, they get alarmed and then start running toward your direction. This really makes no sense and on several occasions I was wondering "oh yeah, how did you know I was there?". Again, to repeat, if you are really well hidden in the bushes, take down a baddie with a long-range sound-suppressed weapon, the mobs will just start running toward your direction as if they already preformed a ballistic analysis of the shooting and know exactly from what angle you were shooting from.

The other thing is body management. So, if you compare the game to say, Deus Ex, in Far Cry 3 you can only carry a body if you take the baddie down with a knife kill - and once you let them go, you cannot drag them anymore. Otherwise, if you performed a stealth kill with a weapon, you won't be able to drag the body around. This also makes no sense and it just takes away from the pleasure of sneaking around. Furthermore, following the first comment, if the body is detected, yep, even if you have moved and are miles away from the kill zone, the whole camp knows precisely where you are.

There are also some quests that depend on "sneaking" but due to the inability to drag and hide bodies and the fact that if a body is found, even if you are far away, your cover is blown, make those quests quite a pain and your game-play goes from "careful hunting" to "trial and error" which voids the main idea of "becoming a hunter".

If you do release Far Cry 4, make sure that you have these stealth and sneaking issues fixed because they ruin the game the way they are implemented. Take a look at how Deus Ex handles this sort of thing. Allow players to drag away bodies and hide them properly. Allow a sound- suppressor to be exactly what it should be so that mobs do not immediately know where you are shooting from (even without a sound suppressor it is still quite difficult to tell where a long-range shooter is shooting from).

Otherwise, great game, great graphics, great story, great everything...
