Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is keeping a secret Piku camera diary! The family comedy drama that brings together Amitabh, Deepika and Irrfan for the first time is in the news after Big B revealed that he shot for a ‘hilarious promotional campaign’ of the film, and now Shoojit Sircar has revealed another secret. Dum Laga Ke Haisha Review

Ayushmann Khurrana made one of the best debuts in recent history with ‘Vicky Donor’ but he went off track with lacklustre films like ‘Bewakoofiyaan’ and ‘Hawaizaada’. Yash Raj Films is going through a bit of a lull with most of their movies getting panned recently. The film hasn’t been promoted at all so the makers are clearly hoping that word of mouth will make them sail through.Read More »

Dum Laga Ke Haisha Music Review

12 February 2015 1:00 AM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Dum Laga Ke Haisha is the latest offering from Yash Raj Films starring Ayushmann Khurrana (Vicky Donor) and debutante Bhumi Pednekar. It also marks Sharat Katariya (of Bheja Fry fame) changing gears from writer to director.

It film features music by Anu Malik (Main Hoon Na), composing after almost two years, his last being Shootout at Wadala. Lyrics have been penned by Varun Grover while vocal talents featured consist of Monali Thakur (‘Sawar Loon’ – Lootera), Papon (‘Tu’ – Bobby Jasoos) and Kumar Sanu (no introduction needed).

The album gets off to a stunner of a start with Moh Moh Ke Dhaage by Papon. The track is very reminiscent of Anu Malik’s more nuanced work in Asoka and Refugee. The orchestration is beautiful as is the haunting melody. Couple with equally beautiful lyrics and a flawless rendition from Papon, the track is any easy winner. ‘Moh Moh Ke Dhaage’ is repeated »

Apart from the fact that the film is a casting coup—since it brings Amitabh Bachchan, Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone together for the first time,  Piku is also Deepika’s first stand alone title role since her debut in Om Shanti Om. In this quirky father-daughter tale, Deepika plays a modern Bengali girl alongside Amitabh Bachchan who plays her father.

Currently India’s top actress, Deepika has always experimented with films, a fact that is evident from the diverse range of roles she has played in the past. It is this desire to seek »

Box Office – Erotic-supernatural Khamoshiyan takes on fantastical Hawaizaada and dramatic Rahasya

29 January 2015 5:41 PM, PST | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Three interesting films belonging to diverse genres clash at the box office this weekend. In fact each of these has a distinct subject which makes them a candidate good enough for a theater viewing. Khamoshiyan is an erotic-supernatural outing from the house of Bhatts. Hawaizaada is an untold story of an Indian who created world’s first unmanned plane. On the other hand Rahasya is apparently a fictional account of Arushi Talwar murder case.

From the opening standpoint, Khamoshiyan would get a better start due to brand Vishesh Films as well as hit music. Moreover, the promos have been decent too and have managed to find eyeballs. A young affair, it should find a better opening at the multiplexes. Though one doesn’t foresee mayhem at the box office on the opening day, the word of mouth should help it during the weekend.

As for Hawaizaada, yet again it would »
