Exclusive first look at the UK poster of Timothy Spall and Colm Meaney in The Journey

Author: Zehra Phelan

We are pleased to launch an exclusive first look at Timothy Spall and Colm Meaney in the UK poster for The Journey – the story of two of Northern Ireland’s political forces, loyalist Ian Paisley and former Ira Commander Martin McGuinness, forced together over the final peace agreement, who reluctantly begin to form a bond.

The poster in which Spall looks uncannily like how Ben Stiller would look in his dotage depicts both men in their stature of power yet divided by the title, a reference to the division of Ireland as it stands, in both its political and religious beliefs.

The Hole and Killing Bono director, Nick Hamm, takes the helm to bring to life a script from screenwriter and former journalist, Colin Bateman. Joining Meaney and Spall is somewhat of a stellar cast with Toby Stephens (Believe, »

Movie Review – Don’t Knock Twice (2016)

Don’t Knock Twice, 2016.

Directed by Caradog W. James

Starring Katee Sackhoff, Lucy BoyntonJavier BotetNick MoranJordan BolgerPooneh HajimohammadiRichard Mylan and Ania Marson

Synopsis:

A mother desperate to reconnect with her troubled daughter becomes embroiled in the urban legend of a demonic witch.

The ever-likeable Katee Sackhoff strands herself in a well-made but trite Candyman knock-off that desperately strives to franchise itself out, but leans back on moldy haunted house tropes for the majority.

American sculptor Jess (Sackhoff) attempts to reconnect with her estranged British daughter Chloe (Lucy Boynton), who finds herself pursued by a relentless supernatural presence after knocking twice on the derelict home of her town’s deceased resident. Legend says that the demonic manifestation of the woman continues to haunt the house, and doesn’t take too kindly to Chloe’s visit.

Don’t Knock Twice is by no means a terrible film, »

Time After Time Season 1 Episode 4 Review: Secrets Stolen

19 March 2017 8:17 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

There are some really good plot developments as well as some seriously problematic elements in Time After Time Season 1 Episode 4

After Time After Time Season 1 Episode 3 that focused almost completely on fleshing out most of the the relationships, this offering reveals some excellent backstory to explain how so many people knew the time travelers were coming.

Thankfully, less time is spent on the labored romantic relationship between Wells and Jane although we still have to put up with a little sugary morning nonsense.

In my day, passion and desire...they were the true result of yearning for a woman, the longing that fills your head and clouds every thought as you patiently wait for her to walk through the door and say 'Good Morning'

‘Don’t Knock Twice’ Exclusive Clip: Katee Sackhoff and Lucy Boynton Fight off a Disturbed Witch

2 February 2017 11:00 AM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

In the new horror film “Don’t Knock Twice,” there’s a disturbing urban legend involving a child-stealing witch living in an abandoned house. “Knock once to wake her from her bed, twice to raise her from the dead…” goes the rhyme, but when troubled teen Chloe (Lucy Boynton) raps at the door one night, she has no idea the horror she’s about to unleash. She flees to the country home of her estranged mother (Katee Sackhoff) — a former addict turned famous artist — and must learn to trust her after many years in order to stop the demon stalking them. It co-stars Nick Moran (“Lock, Stock and Two Smocking Barrels”), Richard Mylan (“The Upside of Anger”), Pooneh Hajimohammadi (“Words with Gods”), Jordan Bolger (“Peaky Blinders”) and more. Movie Review: Strong direction can’t overcome story flaws in supernatural chiller Don’t Knock Twice

31 January 2017 10:00 PM, PST | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

The power of horror rarely lies in the script. Mood and atmosphere aren’t lines of dialogue or storyboarded action so much as a difficult balancing act every director performs. And while strong directors can elevate subpar scripts, they can’t save plots from themselves. The new supernatural horror film Don’t Knock Twice benefits greatly from the direction of Caradog James. He takes a story that almost immediately plunges viewers into an unexplained and messy mythology and, for the better part of an hour, manages to distract from its weaker aspects by implying something far more interesting. Unfortunately, then the third act happens, and the spell is broken.

This is the second film in a row where James has proven himself a talented orchestrator of complex low-budget genre fare (the first being his little-seen but effective sci-fi thriller The Machine), wringing the most out of a limited budget through »

Don’t Knock Twice Trailer Finds Katee Sackhoff Fighting A Witch

6 January 2017 2:21 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Mother and child horror films aren’t hard to find, especially these days. The Babadook might be the best of the bunch in recent years, but there’s still Goodnight Mommy, Lyle, the Carrie remake, Prevenge and now, Don’t Knock Twice, starring Battlestar Galactica‘s Katee Sackhoff, which will bring witches and evil spirits into the equation.

The premise is simple enough: a guilt-ridden mother (Sackhoff) tries to save her estranged daughter (Lucy Boynton) from an apparent curse from a vengeful witch, which terrorizes and haunts them, in the vein of Candyman or The Ring. But with its unsettling imagery, disturbing visuals and jarring editing, Don’t Knock Twice — not to be confused with Mike Birbiglia’s Don’t Think Twice from last summer, which is a completely different movie— certainly looks promising. We hope to say the same when it enters theaters, whenever that might be in the United States. »
