The 42nd annual Daytime Emmy nominees were announced this morning with ABC’s “General Hospital” leading the pack at 28 nominations, including nods for lead actors Laura Wright, Maura West, Jason Thompson, and Anthony Geary, and supporters Finola Hughes, Lisa Locicero, and Chad Duell. Also sitting pretty with a slew of recognition is 25-time nominated “The Young and the Restless,” which turned 42 last week (its first episode aired March 26, 1973), “Days of Our Lives” with 16 nods, and “The Bold and the Beautiful” with 19. CBS leads the networks with 62; PBS and syndicated programming tie for 50, with ABC coming in third with a total of 35 nods. Hulu popped up with a surprise nomination for its series “East Los High,” about Latinos facing social and socio-economic hardship, recognized in the Outstanding New Approach to Drama category. The teen drama is Hulu’s first and only series with an all-Latino cast. The project centers around the lives of teenagers growing up in East Los Angeles from the American-Latino perspective.
Milian will play Liliana, a “kick-ass” music producer at R&R Records who becomes Camila’s (Vannessa Vasquez) mentor. While showing Camila the ins and out of the music business, Liliana realizes she might need to guide her new apprentice in more ways than either expected. The new season sees the Bomb Squad dance team step up their game with some unexpected new team members. Once again, romance, sex, dancing and mystery fill the halls of East Los High.

Summer was created for one purpose only to a legion of fanatics: "East Los High." Yes! Our homies from East Los Angeles, Cali’ are back this summer! Hulu has renewed the groundbreaking teen drama, "East Los High" for a third season. Since its debut in 2013, the English language Elh has introduced its audience of loyal followers – the #ELHaddicts (don’t forget the hashtag!) – to some of the freshest faces in young Latino talent and those fans quickly created allegiances to their favorite characters. Mota developed the School of Series, a yearlong television seminar and lab, with Brazilian Entrepreneurship Agency and Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing. The newly formed lab will foster writers and producers in Brazil to create more than 30 series for the U.S. and Latin American marketplaces.
Under the pact, ABC will have a first look at projects hailing from the School of Series, giving the lab’s creators a chance to partner with Mota.
The deal marks a development in the booming Latino American market filtering through television production Stateside. Hulu’s “East Los High” is the streaming network’s first and only series with an all-Latino cast.
