The Major Crimes squad investigates an attempted robbery that led to several deaths, including some of the thieves. With Assistant Chief Johnson now retired, Lt. Provenza becomes the senior investigating officer. Newly promoted Assistant Chief Taylor is soon on the scene, as is Captain Sharon Raydor who, Taylor announces to everyone, now heads Major Crimes. Needless to say, this does not sit well with most members of the team. Matters only get worse when the one gunman arrested at the scene is killed while sitting in a police car awaiting transportation to the station. That event sets them on the path to solving the crime. Meanwhile, underage Rusty Beck, upset that Brenda is no longer around, wonders who will now be looking for his mother. Written by

At 14:42 into the show, Buzz enters Capt. Raydor's office. While she continues to talk to Rusty, you can see the lower half of Buzz in the background wearing a shield on his belt, but he is still a civilian contractor. See more
Lt. Louie Provenza
Greg Miller is going to jail for the people we killed and getting off scot-free for the murders he committed himself, but I guess that's all right because you saved the city a lot of money. I bet you're really happy about that, huh?
Captain Sharon Raydor
I put a murderer away for life in less than 48 hours, which is not the usual routine around here; so, yes, I feel excellent. Thank you for asking.
