Interesting murder mystery.

The Adams are the perfect family, they seem to have it all happiness, wealth, but scratch the veneer and the problems soon surface. Anne Marie is an alcoholic, husband Colonel Adams wants a divorce, but being a devout Catholics it's not possible. Anne Marie later refuses to allow her daughter Ruby's engagement to John the gardener, unsurprisingly she is soon discovered drowned and floating in a river. Inspector Valentine instantly claims her death is an accident, naturally Father Brown has other ideas. Anne Marie's estranged brother James arrives to be greeted by the tragic news. Anne Marie leaves Ruby a dazzling necklace 'The Flying stars,' and her entire estate is left to the Church.

A good snapshot of what I imagine life to be like in England during the 1950's, I can imagine people with a mentality of 'carrying on, no matter what.' Triumph over adversity etc.

It's a bit of a paint by numbers murder mystery, a little generic, but it's enjoyable enough, the main characters are settled in an proving to be very entertaining. You always get your money's worth out of Julian Wadham, and he's his usual self here, very watchable that is. Nice performance from Amy Morgan (Ruby) too, her career is certainly going in the right direction.
